Spider-Man / Doctor Octopus Negative Exposure Front Cover
Spider-Man / Doctor Octopus: Negative Exposure is one of the uncommon instances where Spider-Man is not the main character of the story. Instead, we follow Jeffery Haight, who is Peter Parker’s competition at the Daily Bugle for getting Spider-Man photos. We watch him follow Spider-Man conflicts, trying to one-up Peter Parker, but never being able to because his competition is literally Spider-Man. His descent into madness comes to a head when Jefferey has a meeting with the imprisoned Doctor Octopus himself… This interesting angle combined with multiple fight scenes between Spider-Man and some of his greatest enemies makes for good book.
This entire book was illustrated by Staz Johnson, who is known for his detailed and dynamic style. The artwork tends to be dark and moody, which matches the more mature themes of the story. Jeffery Haight’s facial expressions especially stood out to us. The portrayals of his seething anger and absolute despair are shocking. The skilled artwork truly hits home that he is a man who is breaking down.
Overall, a good read! Perfect for the Collector who wants a different type of Spider-Man story besides the tried-and-true “versus villain” formula.

Marvel Masterworks Spider-Man Volume 1 Limited Front Cover & Slipcase Front Cover
Marvel Masterworks: Spider-Man features the first and earliest issues of the The Amazing Spider-Man series, which introduces Peter Parker and his world to readers. The collection features iconic storylines such as “Spider-Man vs. the Chameleon,” “Spider-Man Tackles the Torch,” and Spider-Man’s tragic origin story. The collection provides readers with an opportunity to experience the early adventures of the iconic superhero and his supporting cast, and appreciate the seminal work of legends Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. In addition to that, the copy we have here at Collectible Entertainment is an exceedingly rare UK Edition, which includes a gorgeous slipcase.
Steve Ditko’s art truly makes these classic stories a special experience to re-read. This book frames not only how enthralling Spider-Man was from the very beginning, but also how far the wall-crawler has come since his humble roots. Steve Ditko’s old school art is nostalgic and absolutely worthy of the “Masterworks” title. We think it’s important for every fan to go back to the roots of their favorite superhero and witness the early days.
The Marvel Masterworks: Spider-Man – Volume 1 is a must-have for fans of Spider-Man and classic Marvel comics. Especially this version, which comes with the ultra-rare slipcase.
