Savage Art of Bob Larkin Front Cover View 1
The Savage Art of Bob Larkin is the perfect choice for fans who enjoy artwork, particularly cover art. Contained within are over 100 unique pieces of artwork. If you’re a regular here at Collectible Entertainment, this book will contain all the genres we know you love. Our favorites from him include his work on the Savage Sword of Conan. Bob Larkin is perfect for depicting Conan, as his artwork involving the male body is usually aesthetic and muscular.
In fact, Larkin is known for his depictions of muscular, heroic figures. His artwork often features bold and dramatic poses, with characters shown in mid-action, conveying a sense of movement and excitement. He also has a great eye for detail, with his artwork often featuring intricate patterns and textures. Larkin’s art style is characterized by his use of vibrant colors, dynamic compositions, and realistic details. He often employs a highly realistic style, while also adding a touch of surrealism to his artwork.
Overall, recommended for the fans who like to kick back and simply enjoy some gorgeous artwork. There is something for everyone in this hardcover!

Ironhand of Almuric Front Comic Set Covers
Ironhand of Almuric is a thrilling and action-packed story that is sure to delight fans of the fantasy and sword & sorcery genres. Written by Robert E. Howard, the creator of Conan the Barbarian, this comic adaptation is a testament to his skill as a master storyteller. Howard has created a rich and immersive world that is full of fascinating characters, exotic locations, and deadly creatures. The planet of Almuric is a savage and brutal place, where only the strongest survive. Esau Cairn, is a rugged and charismatic hero who is easy to root for. He is a man of action who is always ready to take on any challenge, no matter how dangerous. Watching how this strong protagonist interacts with the dangerous world of Almuric is enjoyable and sure to scratch the fantasy itch for a lot of fans.
The artwork in Dark Horse Comics during the 90s was often characterized by its use of heavy blacks and shadows, which gave the artwork a dark and moody feel. The linework was often sharp and precise, with bold, dynamic lines and a focus on anatomy and facial expressions. All of these components ring true in this comic adaptation. Ironhand himself is full of vivid expressions and depictions that make him appear quite threatening. At several points in these comics, there are epic panels that take up two pages. See interior pictures above! These instances are where Mike Winchell’s skill truly shows. The Tusk-Bear ambush in issue #1 is our favorite example of this.
Overall, the Robert E. Howard fan will want to read this! If you’ve read the novel, this is the perfect companion to that experience. For fantasy fans who are not familiar with the works of Robert E. Howard, this is a good starting point into discovering his lesser-known heroes.

Conan Saga 75 Front Cover
The Conan Saga by Marvel Comics is a collection of classic Conan stories. These stories follow the adventures of Conan, a powerful warrior and adventurer who roams the Hyborian Age, a fictional period set in Robert E. Howard’s fantasy world. The stories take place in various locations, including the fictional kingdoms of Aquilonia, Cimmeria, and Stygia, and feature recurring characters such as Red Sonja, Belit, and Thoth-Amon. The stories are typically pretty short and can be enjoyed as standalones, but the world-building and lore is incredibly complex. It is rewarding to learn more about Conan’s world and Conan Saga is a great way to do it. Issue #75 covers one of our favorite tales, “The Thing in the Crypt”, where Conan encounters a living skeleton sitting upon an ancient throne. See the interior picture above!
Fantasy art titans Ernie Chan, Sal & John Buscema, and Neal Adams were all involved in the artwork for issue #75 of The Conan Saga. Conan is depicted as Robert E. Howard intended: a towering, muscular figure, with flowing hair and a fierce, determined expression. The other characters in the stories were also rendered in intricate detail, with costumes, armor, and weapons that reflected their respective cultures and backgrounds. The various locations and environments that Conan traveled through, from frozen tundras to sprawling cities and ancient ruins, are beautifully depicted and very immersive. This old black & white art is iconic and did an excellent job of bringing Robert E. Howard’s vision to life.
Overall, this magazine is great for Conan fans. Featuring not only amazing stories, but also artwork and exclusive commentary, this magazine captures everything a Conan (and fantasy) fan would want. And not only that, but we also recommend you check out the other Conan magazines offered here at Collectible Entertainment; you cannot go wrong with Conan!
