The Star Wars Return of the Jedi Sketchbook is a book that provides a behind-the-scenes look at the production of the movie Return of the Jedi. It features concept art, sketches, and notes from Joe Johnston, a concept artist and designer who worked on the film. This book provides a rare glimpse into the creative process behind the making of one of the most iconic films in the Star Wars franchise. The sketches and concept art featured in this book are absolutely stunning, and it’s fascinating to see how the final designs for characters, vehicles, and environments evolved from initial concepts. Joe Johnston’s notes and annotations provide valuable insights into the thought process that went into the design of the movie’s various elements, and it’s clear that he was an integral part of the film’s creative team. The book also includes previously unreleased sketches and concept art, making it a treasure trove of new and exciting content for even the most die-hard Star Wars fans.

Joe Johnston’s artwork is widely recognized for its imaginative and meticulous detail. He is particularly skilled in designing characters, vehicles, and environments, and his work often features intricate mechanical and industrial details. Most notably, and in the case of this book, his designs for the Star Wars franchise truly stand out, as they helped to shape the look and feel of the original trilogy. Johnston’s sketches and concept art for characters like Boba Fett, the AT-AT walkers, and the Millennium Falcon are now iconic, and his designs for the various planets visited in the movies are equally impressive. This book collects all of these incredible elements and is truly a treat for fans of concept art and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

Overall, we highly recommend the Star Wars Return of the Jedi Sketchbook to anyone interested in the art of filmmaking or the Star Wars franchise. The beautiful artwork, fascinating insights, and previously unseen content make this book a valuable addition to any collection.

Thing from Another World Climate of Fear Comic Set 1.1

Thing from Another World Climate of Fear Comic Set Front Cover

“The Thing From Another World: Climate of Fear” is a four-issue comic book series that serves as a continuation of the story from the 1951 science fiction film “The Thing From Another World.” This comic series is set directly after the events of the movie and follows a “Thing” outbreak in the steaming jungles of Argentina. It’s worth noting that the 1951 science fiction movie is one of our favorite movies of all time! An absolute masterpiece of filmmaking that stands out, even in the present day. Movie aside, Climate of Fear” is a tense and atmospheric horror story that expands upon the world and characters established in the original film. The fan-favorite Macready is here in all his paranoid glory, this time with a new group of survivors to try and guide.

Jim Somerville creates a dark and eerie atmosphere that perfectly matches the horror and suspense of the story. Somerville’s character designs are the highlight of this series, particularly his depiction of the alien creature, which is both terrifying and visually striking. He expertly captures the creature’s shape-shifting abilities, depicting it in a variety of forms that are both familiar and unsettling. Not only that, but there are many unique depictions of the creature itself throughout the story. There are no shortage of abominations that Jim is able to conjure with his skills. Jim Somerville’s artwork perfectly pairs with the tried and true “Thing From Another World” story formula.

Overall, Climate of Fear is a worthy continuation of the original movie. With hauntingly brutal artwork, tense scenes, and many plot twists, readers will be engaged right to the very end. Fans of The Thing that have not read this series are highly encouraged to check it out. If you have not watched the original 1951 movie, go watch it and then read this series!
