Collectible Entertainment Spotlight

Green Lantern Green Arrow: The Collection Hardcover 1.1

Green Lantern Green Arrow: The Collection Dust Jacket & Slipcase Front Cover

The Green Lantern / Green Arrow: The Collection is a deluxe Hardcover that comes with a Dust Jacket and Slipcase. This Hardcover celebrates the 30th anniversary of the road trip that the Emerald allies take together across the United States. This Hardcover is not easy to get and is an excellent find for any serious collectors of these heroes. The story within also features a welcome appearance by Black Canary.

Neal Adams’ Green Lantern and Green Arrow artwork is characterized by a high level of detail, realistic anatomy and lighting, and dynamic compositions. He was particularly skilled at depicting action sequences, and his use of dramatic lighting and shadows added a sense of depth and intensity to his artwork. Neal Adams’ artwork in this book is considered a classic example of the Bronze Age of comic book art and has had a lasting impact on the way the characters have been depicted in comics and other media.

Overall, fans of either or both Green Lantern and Green Arrow will be impressed with this book. Not only is the presentation of a crisp, clean hardcover with a slipcase a highlight, but the story within is worth the read.

Jonah Hex Two Gun Mojo Trade Paperback 1.1

Jonah Hex Two Gun Mojo Front Cover

Jonah Hex: Two Gun Mojo presents the ideal supernatural Western experience all tied up into an easy-to-read package. Jonah Hex is a legacy antihero who’s been around for a long time. Two Gun Mojo was his great return to comics back in the mid-90s after a long hiatus. This book hits a lot of the standard Western tropes that fans will enjoy, but the fact that the protagonist playing them out is Jonah Hex makes it exceedingly more entertaining. A complex character, Jonah is a cold and calculated man with an admirable sense of honor. This story plays out as a tale of revenge, with Jonah being the man who was wronged. Watching him navigate the West and exact his vengeance is a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Tim Truman was the perfect artistic choice for Jonah Hex’s great return. He is known for his ability to capture the rugged, gritty feel of the American Old West, with his artwork often featuring intricate details of weapons, clothing, and other period-appropriate elements. He has a keen eye for composition, using dynamic layouts and panel arrangements to create a sense of movement and energy in his illustrations. The shootouts are the highlight of this comic series, with Truman excelling at creating intense scenarios for the characters to battle it out in.

Overall, this book will appeal to both Jonah Hex and Western enthusiasts. If you don’t know who Jonah Hex is but like Westerns, this book is for you. Fans of Jonah Hex that have not read this story will want to tune in.

Joker 1 Limited 1 for 25 Retailer Incentive Variant Comic 1.1

Joker 1 Limited 1 for 25 Retailer Incentive Variant Front Cover

The Joker #1 kicked off the latest installment of the Clown Prince of Crime into the DC Universe. Likely following the success of the 2019 movie and meeting the demand for Joker content, this series was started with the hopes of satiating it. This first issue, however, is not fully about the Joker. Instead, we follow Jim Gordon as he does his job in a fever dream-like trance. The Joker has escaped Arkham Asylum and left a trail of destruction in his wake. Bane was killed in the breakout and even the Dark Knight doesn’t know exactly where the Joker made off to. This first issue serves to build tension for the series and leaves off on quite the cliffhanger. Jim Gordon has come a long way as a character since his first appearance six decades ago and it is pleasant to spend the issue with him as he goes about his business.

The highlight of this listing is definitely the Limited 1 for 25 Retailer Incentive Variant Front Cover. Riccardo Federici has created a truly masterful portrait of the Joker doing his signature evil smile. The attention to detail is easy to see here, with small features like the murderous glint in his eyes being our favorite part. The interior art is especially well done, with the depictions of the Joker being horrifying. It is easy to see why Jim Gordon is so plagued by the thought of the Joker being loose.

Overall, this comic is recommended for the hardcore Joker collector. If you already own the entire 2021 series, you’ll want this Variant Cover to round everything out.
