Logan’s Run Comic Set Front Covers
This Marvel comic set is an adaptation based off the original 1976 dystopian sci-fi film. A masterpiece of story-telling and world building, Logan’s Run follows a man who lives in a city where every pleasure is available to you until you hit age 30, which you are then executed. Logan’s Run explores themes of societal control, individual freedom, and the search for truth in a world that values youth and hedonism above all else. It raises questions about the consequences of extreme population control measures and the inherent flaws in an artificial utopia. This epic is not only thoroughly entertaining, but also offers readers with food for thought as it tackles various interesting dilemmas.
The artwork is a perfect example of 70s science fiction. The initial issues are spearheaded by George Perez, with Tom Sutton picking up the last two issues. Having renown, big name Marvel artists like these two working on a project like this was truly legendary. The science fiction imagery is perfect in conveying the story and garners many nostalgia points. Our favorite panels were the ones that included any sort of technology or robots. It’s interesting to see what artists from 40+ years ago thought the future would look like. The robot in issue 4 was a highlight for us.
Overall, this comic set is recommended for anybody who watched and enjoyed the 1976 movie. Science Fiction fans and fans of Dystopian stories will also enjoy this series. Being 7 issues long, there is quite a bit of reading material to enjoy.

Daredevil The Man without Fear Front Cover
Released in 1993, the Daredevil: The Man without Fear explores Matt Murdock’s childhood and the events that shaped him into the fearless crimefighter known as Daredevil. Frank Miller’s writing delves into the psychological and emotional aspects of Matt’s journey, providing readers with a deeper understanding of the Matt’s motivations and inner struggles. This is not your run-of-the-mill, cheesy origin story. Frank Miller delivers a deeply compelling story that truly shows how complex Matt Murdock is. The Man Without Fear is known for its gritty and noir-inspired tone, depicting a dark and unforgiving version of Hell’s Kitchen. Definitely not a story for children, as it regularly deals with adult themes.
John Romita Jr.’s artwork compliments Miller’s writing, capturing the kinetic energy and acrobatic nature of Daredevil’s fighting style. The illustrations effectively show the dark and atmospheric setting of Hell’s Kitchen, immersing readers in the grim world of the Man Without Fear. This artwork brings everything together and truly gives depth to Miller’s superb storytelling. Our favorite panels were the huge, two-page pieces of artwork. A runner-up for us was the various combat sequences throughout the story.
Overall, this is the definitive Daredevil story. The hardcover itself is extremely rare, with only 742 books in print. This book is recommended for the Daredevil and Frank Miller completionist.

Venom Funeral Pyre Comic Set Front Covers
Venom: Funeral Pyre is a mini-series following one of Spider-Man’s greatest enemies. To make things even spicier, the Punisher is also involved. The story follows both Venom and the Punisher pursuing a reporter who has gone undercover in a violent gang. However, they have different reasons for wanting to get to him… The storyline with the gang is interesting, but the highlight of this mini-series is obviously the interactions between Venom and the Punisher. From initially fighting over having different goals, to eventually teaming up towards the end, the two characters have tons of “screen-time” to be enjoyed. It is interesting how both of them have such a strong sense of justice, but execute it in very different ways; the clash that this creates is a driving force for a lot of this series.
Marvel in the 90s had a very distinct art style and it is on full display here. Incredibly muscular characters, exaggerated poses, big guns, and more… it’s all here! In the gallery above, we included some of our favorite panels. Being packed full of excellent art and amazing sequences, it was a hard decision choosing which ones to show off. Some of the most well-drawn parts were the panels that depicted Eddie Brock transforming into Venom. These mid-transformation scenes show in great detail how the strange symbiote substance interacts with Eddie. They are expertly drawn and bring the whole Venom “aesthetic” together.
Overall, this mini-series will appeal to a lot of folks. Venom and Punisher fans will want to read this, as well as just general Marvel 90s fans. This is a lesser-known story in the Venom mythos, but definitely worth the read.

Wolverine Enemy of the State Front Cover
Wolverine: Enemy of the State is basically a What If? comic. This storyline sets up with Wolverine being “reprogrammed” by Hydra, who then sends him out on a mission to kill important heroes. Similar to the trends in What If?, this story has Wolverine encounter and battle many of the great heroes in the Marvel Universe. Watching an indestructible and insatiable Wolverine brutally go after heroes is enthralling, especially when it’s big ones like Daredevil and Captain America (among others!). The story also leans more towards the grittier side of Marvel, with parts that have Wolverine killing entire groups of people… both enemies and innocents!
John Romita Jr. was the perfect choice of artist for this story. Given his decades of experience in the superhero genre, John Romita Jr. is able to deliver compelling and exciting artwork that illustrates the drama and severity of having Wolverine go feral. Between the brutal scenes of Wolverine massacring groups of enemies to the encounters with big-ticket superheroes, everything is expertly illustrated. Some of the best panels are the page-sized ones that show Wolverine confronting his prey, but we also enjoyed a sequence where he has to battle sharks underwater.
Overall, this is a classic Wolverine story that most fans should be familiar with. Definitely recommended for Wolverine fans that haven’t read this yet! But not only them, but also fans of the Marvel Universe will also enjoy this book as it contains many different heroes and important events in the timeline.
