Stories/Spoilers
In part #1, The comic starts with Ice King cursing Finn and Jake with a spell allowing the reader to choose the duo’s actions. It is now up to the reader to choose the adventure through multiple plot choices in order to free the heroes.
The reader can choose to seek help from various characters. If they visit the Fire Kingdom, then Flame King will tell them that Flame Princess isn’t around. They will invariably end up going to Princess Bubblegum. This segment of the story includes an alternate bad ending where the reader refuses to let Finn properly explain the situation to her, and they end up stuck forever. If the reader chooses not to make Finn and Jake toot, then they will also end up seeking help from Adventure Tim, who is suffering from the exact same problem.
Eventually, the reader arrives at one of three possible endings. Firstly, the characters will refuse to do anything interesting until the reader relinquishes control. Secondly, the characters will attempt to give the reader so many choices that they can no longer keep track. Thirdly, Princess Bubblegum can recast the spell on Finn and Jake so that they are back in control of their own bodies. Whatever the reader chooses, their “control” will be relinquished, and the story ends with Finn and Jake telling Ice King not to do it again.
Next in part #2, Finn, Jake, and BMO are are watching a movie called “Blood Drive” when Marceline comes over to play video games. An excited BMO brings out an old game called “Super Guts Punch 3”, and since Marceline is there BMO decides to allow them to go into his Main Brain Game Frame.
After they enter the game they land in a throne room with the prince locked in a cage. Finn remembers an article about the game in an old magazine and figures out they have to press a secret floor tile and they are then shrunken down and swallowed by the prince. After escaping the prince’s stomach acid, they find out all the game’s bosses and enemies are much easier to defeat than they should be. After defeating the final boss with one hit, the game begins to dissolve and the words “CRACKED AND HACKED BY EWLBO” “GREETS 2 THE OTHER” “==SoFTWARE WiZARDZ==” appear and then our heroes are released from the game wondering who “Ewlbo” is.
Once they are back in the real world, they find that BMO’s personality is far more aggressive than before. Marceline deduces that “Ewlbo” has hacked BMO and infected it with a computer virus.
Next in part #3, It is revealed that in Issue 11 that Lumpy Space Princess was spying on Finn, Jake, and Marceline and saw BMO zap them into Super Guts Punch 3. Jealous, Lumpy Space Princess bursts into the Tree Fort demanding she get sent into the game too. Unfortunately, the game is three-player only and Lumpy Space Princess becomes a stone pillar in the background of the game’s opening level until she decides to leave the game, causing BMO to malfunction. After Lumpy Space Princess raids the Tree Fort’s food she crosses Cinnamon Bun and Manfried, who are on a mission from Princess Bubblegum to give a message (just to say “What’s up?”) to Finn and Jake. Unfortunately Cinnamon Bun accidentally drops and breaks Manfried, but he sticks him back together with his glazing and they give their message to Finn and Jake after they rush pass them with Marceline and a still aggressive BMO.
Finn, Jake and Marceline decide the best way to flush out Ewlbo is with a fake Wizard Battle, however since the last one was only a few months ago they have to draw them in by saying it’s only for the “awesomest wizards ever.” They make posters for it and a multitude of wizards come. The ones Marceline meets have all wronged her in the past and she gets her payback, but none are Ewlbo. Jake tricks the ones he meets into playing cards where he cheats and makes them all say their true names for losing, but none are Ewlbo. Finn brings in Truth Field Projection Princess and interrogates all the wizards there, but none of them know anything about Ewlbo.
After canceling the Wizard Battle and sending all the wizards away. The team tries to figure out what to do next when BMO runs off. The gang tries to hold him but get pulled along. As they are pulled into the night they eventually come to a canyon where a crowd of robots are gathered around a cybernetic hole in the ground.
Next in part #4, Finn, Jake and Marceline discover that the virus that has infected BMO has infected all the robots in Ooo. For some reason all the robots have gathered around an abandoned military base and BMO begins to get an unknown system update and begins to reboot. This update allowed Ewlbo to install himself into BMO and all the other robots and remove their personalities, effectively killing them.
Because they’re outnumbered they can’t fight the robots off and they don’t want to destroy them in hope that there’s a chance to save them. They decide to try and hack the robots and go inside the military base and see that the power still works. Marceline reveals that before magic became popular, she studied computers and is able to hack the virus code. After finding an oddly named program file, goggles fall from the ceiling and when they put them on they are transported inside the computer mainframe and meet a software version of Randall N. Byron, the creator of Ewlbo.
He explains that over one thousand years and twenty-three years ago he was born and one thousand years and two years ago the world ended and between that time he wrote computer programs. He was most interested in games a wrote a self-replicating code that “seeks out games and gives you better dudes” and it made his video game characters stronger. After the first Mushroom War the code spread from system to system trying to survive until it got to the military base and met the Omega Algorithm, military grade software designed to destroy whatever target system it’s installed into. After Byron’s program attempted to infect the Omega Algorithm it adapted to the program and fought it for two weeks and then merged with it, creating a new program that “systematically seeks out and destroys better dudes” and BMO was infected when he dug up Super Guts Punch 3 and wirelessly spread it to other systems.
Randall decides to merge with Ewlbo in hopes of controlling it but the Ewlbo virus is able to overwrite him and confront the trio in a giant amalgamation body made of all the robots in Ooo.
Finally in part #5, Ewlbo (now going by the name “Kewlboy” after overwriting Randall) is attacking Finn, Jake and Marceline in a giant robot body made out of all the robots in Ooo. They attempt to attack Kewlboy, but they can’t seriously damage him out of fear of harming the robots. Kewlboy reveals that his plan is to destroy everyone in Ooo out of fear that they are all “better” than him. Jake attempts to stretch him around Kewlboy in order to restrain him, but to no avail and Kewlboy appears to have smashed him into the ground. Marceline attempts to reach out to Randall, Kewlboy insists he was deleted, so Finn and Marceline decide to throw caution to the wind and attack him directly but he grabs them. Before he can pull them apart Finn reveals that Jake was okay and had just shrunk into his mouth.
Jake uses his stretching powers to press BMO’s hidden button and send the three of them into his Main-Brain-Game-Frame. There they find the minds of the infected robots and they are able to use a cheat code to rid them of Kewlboy’s virus. However, Kewlboy appears in the game and reveals that he still has control of BMO and sends waves of the game’s enemies to attack them. Marceline has the robots with them combine into giant mechs for the three of them to fight off the enemies and then attack Kewlboy directly, tearing the pixels off his in-game figure and feeds them to the game’s enemies.
Back in the real world, BMO has returned to normal and suggests they go play video games, which everyone agrees to.
Later, in the game, Randall appears and reveals that while Kewlboy deleted him, he never emptied the trash. Randall has learned he was wrong to have tried to find cheats for all his games and decides to play with the rest of them honestly and they go off to explore the game’s universe.
