Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, “Shades of Evil Part 1”, In an experiment gone wrong, a scientist makes a pact with Araknis. Doctor Blackwell, the scientist, soon regrets his bond with Araknis but is interrupted by a woman in distress by thugs from a satanic cult led by a man named Lord Abbadon. Araknis intervenes and things get bloody. Meanwhile, a special team hears of satanic activity at a nearby church and heads to the location. But they are intercepted by dimensional being that destroy their van. At the church, unspeakable satanic acts are being carried out when Araknis comes crashing in laying waste. High Priest Jordine commands Lord Abbadon’s demonic minions to attack. All out carnage ensues. Just when Araknis is about to cross the line… the special team arrives with weapons ready.

Next in issue #2, “Shades of Evil Part 2”, Defeated, the High Priest Jordine escapes through a portal to report the attack directly to Lord Abbadon. Meanwhile, the mayhem at the church continues as the special team engages Araknis. Araknis quickly subdues the team and calls out the team captain’s name, “Joshua Novak”, then disappears into the night. Elsewhere, the High Priest Jordine finds himself in the hands of the merciless Lord Cryptus. The High Priest Jordine tells of Araknis and Lord Cryptus beheads him. Lord Cryptus vows death to Araknis and the special team, Dark Squad. Back on Earthworld, Doctor Blackwell confronts his alter-ego Araknis about his brutality. Araknis responds by saying it’s simply his nature. Police arrive at the church and a detective named Nowlan tries to talk to Captain Novak when the church explodes. Lord Abbadon’s demonic monsters named Wraith Wraths start pouring out of the flames and chaos ensues. Araknis arrives for battle only to encounter the demon’s commander… his captured demon possessed wife…

Next in issue #3, “Shades of Evil Part 3”, Araknis awakens in the clutches of Doctor Egomaxbrianermier Megathott, an underling of Lord Cryptus. Lord Cryptus soon arrives on the scene to personally interrogate Araknis. Meanwhile, outside Lord Cryptus’s Fortress, the Comorians launch an airborne assault in an effort to rescue their captured Prince. Lord Cryptus’s commander Hell-X, Doctor Blackwell’s demon possessed wife, interrupts Lord Cryptus of the news of the Comorians attack. Lord Cryptus threatens Araknis as he leaves to battle the Comorians attack, Hell-X lingers to further taunt Doctor Blackwell about his wife then follows Lord Cryptus. Araknis pleads with Doctor Rockwell to give in to his powers and they will be free. Doctor Rockwell initially resists knowing the carnage that Araknis will bring but relents to Araknis. Araknis, without any human will to restrain him, is quickly free… and the unabated slaughter begins. Meanwhile outside the fortress, A super team named, Lion Pryde, prepares to attack and free Prince Baalja from the clutches of Lord Cryptus and his Storm Legions. The team consists of, Jag Wire, Blackmoon, Noble Shot, and Lynx. In Prince Baalja’s dungeon cell, Captain Novak awakens and questions Prince Baalja. Elsewhere within the fortress, Araknis, having slaughtered his way free, makes his way through the halls of the fortress… when he is confronted by two gigantic creatures. Looks like “Big Trouble!”.

Finally in Issue #4, “Shades of Evil Part 4”, Araknis engages in an all-out battle with the two gigantic creatures. Meanwhile, outside the fortress, the Comorians come under heavy attack. Inside the fortress, Lord Cryptus goes to the dungeon of Captain Novak and Prince Baalja to get the prisoners for a “important engagement”. The super team, Lion Pryde, continues to make its way into the fortress when they are assaulted and easily defeated by Hell-X and her Storm Legions. Elsewhere, Araknis barely survives the attack from the two gigantic creatures and makes his escape. Meanwhile, Hell-X brings the captured Lion Pryde team to Lord Cryptus. As Lord Cryptus is about to condemn Captain Novak, Prince Baalja, and the Lion Pryde team, Araknis shows up ready to do battle. Just as Araknis strikes, Lord Cryptus pulls Hell-X into the way, and she is killed. In all of the confusion, Captian Novak, Prince Baalja, and the Lion Pryde team make their escape. The tragic death of his beloved “possessed” wife awakens Doctor Rockwell within Araknis and he does the unspeakable to bring Lord Cryptus’ reign to an end.
