Army of Darkness is a 1992 American horror fantasy comedy film directed, co-written and co-edited by Sam Raimi, co-produced by Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell and co-written by Ivan Raimi. Starring Campbell and Embeth Davidtz, it is the third installment in the Evil Dead franchise, and a sequel to Evil Dead II, and follows Ash Williams (Campbell) as he is trapped in the Middle Ages and battles the undead in his quest to return to the present.

Ash Williams, everyone’s favorite chainsaw-toting redneck anti-hero, has finally returned to his own world—all it took was his own death and a harrowing encounter with zombie super-heroes (Marvel Zombies/Army of Darkness). But Detroit is no longer the city he left behind: aided by the mystical power of the Necronomicon, the city has been devastated by the Deadites and Ash’s nefarious double, Evil Ash Prime. The book’s power has literally reshaped the destiny of the world, allowing Evil Ash to reign supreme, and the Deadite hordes to ravage what’s left of humanity.

How can one man – even one as supremely cool as Ash – hope to defeat an entire zombie empire? Well, lucky for Ash, he’s still the Chosen One, and the forces that chose him have a way of lending a hand once in a while. In this case, their help comes in the form of several new allies and a prophecy that says they have a chance – just a small chance, mind you – of saving the world.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1A, “From the Ashes – Part 1”, Our un-intrepid hero has returned to his own world… but what a world it’s become! Evil Ash and his Deadite hordes rule the land, and everywhere Ash turns is filled with mutants and monsters! Can Ashley J. Williams gather his ‘chosen’ and take down the Deadite hordes and restore order to the world?

Next in issue #2A, “From the Ashes – Part 2”, Ash continues to explore the Deadite-infested wastes of Detroit as he attempts to wrestle control of the world back from Evil Ash and his Deadite minions!

Next in issue #3A, “From the Ashes – Part 3”, Evil Ash sits atop the remains of Detroit as the Chosen One (that’s Ash to his friends) gathers his crew of mutants and misfits in a desperate attempt to remake the world into something slightly less dead and rotting! Will he be able to wrest control of the Deadite Kigdom from his worse half in time!?!?

Next in issue #4A, “From the Ashes – Part 4”, Ash and his company have made it to the City of the Dead, the throne of Evil Ash. They stand before the gates of the tower and face their moment of truth. And then it all goes to hell! Will Ash triumph over his own ‘bad’ self?

Next in issue #5A, “The Long Road Home – Part 1”, After recent Apocalyptic events, Ash is reunited with Sheila as the two set out to remake the world and reclaim the legacy of humanity.

Next in issue #6A, “The Long Road Home – Part 2”, Ash has made the fateful decision to continue in his “Chosen One” duties, not knowing that hell has literally been unleashed on earth and he’s about to face the baddest of the bad, the evilest of the evil – the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse!

Next in issue #7A, “The Long Road Home – Part 3”, Ash is once again back in his role as the @$$-kicking ‘Chosen One’ and once again has to risk it all to save Sheila!

Next in issue #8A, “The Long Road Home – Part 4”, Ash faces the Riders of the Apocalypse and the dark demon behind it all as our hero attempts to reverse the course of the ‘End of Days’! It all comes to an explosive conclusion that finds Ash once again on the receiving end of a swift kick in the ass, courtesy of the Necronomicon!

Next in issue #9A, “Home Sweet Hell – Part 1”, Ash is back in a world mostly of his own making – back in the S-Mart and checking prices on toasters and girdles. Only thing is, the demons are conspiring and Ash is, well, Ash doesn’t remember anything. And because he doesn’t remember anything, heading out to that cabin in the woods after a long work week sounds just fine to him…

Next in issue #10A, “Home Sweet Hell – Part 2”, Ash finds himself still at odds with reality while the demons of purgatory continue to watch Ash with interest… and extreme malice!

Next in issue #11A, “Home Sweet Hell – Part 3”, Our hero finds himself still acting decidedly “unheroic” as the effects of too much dimension and time hopping may have finally taken their toll! But, as demons conspire around him, and the fate of his friends lies in the balance, will ash be able to stand up and reclaim his Chosen One mantle?

Next in issue #12A, “Home Sweet Hell – Part 4”, Ash finally returns to being the Chosen One and mercilessly butchers the 7 Deadly Sins.

Next in issue #13A, “King for a Day”, Having rejected his place among the 7 Deadly Sins, Ashley J. Williams has again claimed the mantle of the Chose One and, along with his beloved Shelia and the vile Necronomicon, has set off into the void to see what awaits on the other side…

Next in issue #14A, “Hellbillies and Deadnecks – Part 1”, Shelia is left in the past and now Ash is back in the present day with the Necronomicon still under his watchful eye. Deciding he can no longer seek solace in the arms of those he may love, Ash strikes out to keep lonely watch over the book in the mountains… what possibly could go wrong?

Next in issue #15, “Hellbillies and Deadnecks – Part 2”, Things go haywire in the mountains when a Deadite outbreaks begins in the nearby town… spreading into the wildlife in the woods!

Next in issue #16, “Hellbillies and Deadnecks – Part 3”, In the mountains, the Necronomicon has turned those around it into an undead and diseased land… with Ash still on guard, he must take the fight back to the forces of evil, even as he realizes that his solitary life may well come to a dramatic end!

Next in issue #17, “Hellbillies and Deadnecks – Part 4”, Ash faces his most deadly challenge yet as he faces a mountainside possessed by the power of the Necronomicon!

Next in issue #18, “Montezuma’s Revenge”, Ash goes south of the border to wrestle with a resurrected Aztec warlord who plans to use the Spanish Necronomicon to take take revenge on the descendants of those who killed him and then take over the world.

Next in issue #19, A quiet moment in the Chosen One’s life is explored this time out in the continuing tales of Ashley J. Williams and his seemingly never-ending quest to rid the world of the evil that is The Necronomicon.

Next in issue #20, Ashley J. Williams goes to Europe! See what happens when America’s most beloved Chosen One travels across the pond and explores the legends and mysteries of Chosen Ones past, including a certain ripper in old London town!

Next in issue #21, Ash has gone travelling and found himself hanging with a werewolf in London and possessed by a being calling itself the “Hell’s Prophet”. Just another day in the life of the Chose One, but something even bigger is coming and it calls itself the League of Light.

Next in issue #22, Ash and his werewolf friend are in deep trouble with confronted by a group of possessed psych ward lunatics being controlled by a demonic woman.

Next in issue #23, Ash and his new squad travel to Africa to continue the fight!

Next in issue #24, After an encounter with assassins on their way out of Africa, Ash and his crew get lost deep in the deep forests of China in search of Shangri-La.

Next in issue #25, Ash parts ways with his team to pursue a lead in Antarctica. Meanwhile, his team is divided between missions in Australia and Peru.

Next in issue #26, A great betrayal occurs that unleashes Hell’s Prophet on the world. Ash’s spirit barely survives, but what is the course of action now?

Finally in issue #27, After Ash’s demise last issue, will the intrepid Chosen One find a way out of the spirit plane and back into his main man body?
