The Battlefield Volume 2 series is divided into two self-contained mini-series with three issues each, all of which are set during the Korean War. The first mini-series, “The Green Fields Beyond”, deals with all-out tank warfare in the Korean War. The second mini-series, “The Fall and Rise of Anna Kharkova”, follows Anna Kharkova, the heroine of The Night Witches and Motherland in yet another high-flying war adventure.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, “Now Thrive The Armourers”, On the killing fields of Korea the Tankies find themselves back up the sharp end, as veteran Sergeant Stiles is finally given a tank that can take on any opposition. Unfortunately, the Chinese spring offensive of 1951 is on its way- leaving our heroes cut off, on their own and outnumbered ten to one. It’s British steel against massed Communist hordes, as the last Battlefields series begins with a bang.

Next in issue #2, “God for Harry, England and Saint George”, Stiles and Frankie are up against it: trapped on Gloster Hill with a small unit of British soldiers, facing a murderous onslaught by ten thousand Chinese troops. Worse still, they didn’t bring their tank along this time. It’s last man, last round, as the Tankies face their sternest test to date…

Next in issue #3, “Death Ride”, Only one chance remains to save the encircled British forces from being overrun, and that’s an armored drive straight down the valley of death to smash through the Chinese lines. Stiles and his crew find themselves leading the charge- and meeting their destiny, in the final installment in the story of the Tankies.

Next in issue #4, ”The Fall and Rise of Anna Kharkova Part 1”, The heroine of The Night Witches and Motherland flies straight into trouble as her aircraft is shot down behind German lines. Anna faces her worst nightmare as a prisoner of the Nazis, and events are set in motion that will see her made an outcast amongst her own people. The third and last installment of the Night Witches’ story begins here.

Next in issue #5, ”The Fall and Rise of Anna Kharkova Part 2”, Korea, 1951, and Anna and Mouse find themselves still in the air- but only just. An old enemy intent on our heroine’s downfall has reappeared, and her dangerous past may be about to catch up with her. Then again, with the Korean skies filled with lethal American jet fighters, her problems may be over sooner than she thinks…

Finally in issue #6, ”The Fall and Rise of Anna Kharkova Part 3”, The year is 1964, and while war hero Anna Kharkova survived WWII intact, she now languishes in a remote Siberian punishment camp. But the former Night Witch still has one last card to play! High above the frozen Arctic ocean, her saga reaches its end, as the last of the women warriors meets her destiny.
