Battlestar Galactica is an American science fiction franchise created by Glen A. Larson. The franchise began with the original television series in 1978. Battlestar Galactica was produced in the wake of the success of the 1977 film Star Wars. It was later followed by a short-run sequel series (Galactica 1980), a line of book adaptations, original novels, comic books, a board game, video games, and other re-imagined versions of Battlestar Galactica television series from 2003 even to recently.

In a distant part of the universe, a human civilization has extended to a group of planets known as the Twelve Colonies, to which they have migrated from their ancestral homeworld of Kobol. The Twelve Colonies have been engaged in a lengthy war with a cybernetic race known as the Cylons, whose goal is the extermination of the human race. The Cylons offer peace to the humans, which proves to be a ruse. With the aid of a human named Baltar, the Cylons carry out a massive attack on the Twelve Colonies and on the Colonial Fleet of starships that protect them. These attacks devastate the Colonial Fleet, lay waste to the Colonies, and virtually destroy their populations. Scattered survivors flee into outer space aboard a ragtag array of available spaceships. Of the entire Colonial battle fleet, only the Battlestar Galactica, a gigantic battleship and spacecraft carrier, appears to have survived the Cylon attack. Under the leadership of Commander Adama, the Galactica and the pilots of “Viper fighters” lead a fugitive fleet of survivors in search of the fabled thirteenth colony known as Earth.

Now, Dynamite Entertainment is proud to present a new milestone in Battlestar Galactica continuity. Featuring the classic Battlestar Galactica characters and times from the 1978 TV series. The Classic crew of the Battlestar Galactica is back from the old seventies series along with what’s left of the Twelve Colonies. The story is set in the original 1978 show’s continuity so they’re still searching for clues as to the location of that mysterious home of the Thirteenth Colony, known as Earth! The fleet has been travelling for ten years, and at last the human survivors seem to be leaving the war and the Cylons behind them. But the threats never go away. A voice from the past and a bizarre twist of fate leads the Battlestar Galactica into danger once again, and events will take place that will change everything, forever…

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1G, Set in the days leading up to Apollo’s death, the fleet is divided around an ideological conflict between the old Command staff and the new. Adama wants to stick to the same methodical approach they’ve used for decades. Athena, itching to take command of the Fleet, wants to bring in psionics. So now it becomes a question of science versus faith. It’s not a good time for divided interest as the Cylon threat is always looming.

Next in issue #2G, The Colonial Fleet has finally found an unexpected promise of salvation, after ten years of desperate survival. Yet is it all it seems to be? Apollo and his fellow warriors embark on a dangerous mission to unlock the truth… and the consequences will change the lives of all aboard the Galactica forever.

Next in issue #3G, After years of silence, the Cylons have returned, and their first strike at the fleet has cost the life of Galactica’s favorite son, Apollo. As the grieving Galacticans struggle with their loss, and Starbuck contemplates reckless revenge, Adama must find focus and contemplate the odds: the Cylon threat is stronger and more insidious than ever before. Unless the fleet can defeat or outrun the Cylons, humanity will soon be as dead as his beloved son.

Next in issue #4G, In the wake of Apollo’s tragic fate, Starbuck secretly recruits Boomer, Athena and a few chosen others for a desperate and unsanctioned mission, but his reckless determination may be leaving the fleet vulnerable to Cylon attack. And the gathering Cylon threat is stronger and more insidious than ever before. Starbuck won’t let anything stop him… not Adama, not the Cylons and not even common sense.

Next in issue #5G, The crew of the Galactica, and the fleet as a whole, comes to terms with Apollo’s shocking fate. But there is no time for reflection. Apollo’s mission woke up the Cylon threat, and the old enemy has become aware of the fleet again. The War has turned hot again, the fleet is in grave danger, and without Apollo’s pilot skills and leadership, the human race may not survive.

Finally in issue #6G, Starbuck and Athena have refused to accept that Apollo is gone, and their unsanctioned mission to prove that he survived has led to catastrophic consequences for the Fleet. After years of silence, the Cylons have found humanity again, and are closing in greater numbers than ever before to complete the extinction of mankind.
