Battlestar Galactica is an American science fiction franchise created by Glen A. Larson. The franchise began with the original television series in 1978. Battlestar Galactica was produced in the wake of the success of the 1977 film Star Wars. It was later followed by a short-run sequel series (Galactica 1980), a line of book adaptations, original novels, comic books, a board game, video games, and other re-imagined versions of Battlestar Galactica television series from 2003 even to recently.
In a distant part of the universe, a human civilization has extended to a group of planets known as the Twelve Colonies, to which they have migrated from their ancestral homeworld of Kobol. The Twelve Colonies have been engaged in a lengthy war with a cybernetic race known as the Cylons, whose goal is the extermination of the human race. The Cylons offer peace to the humans, which proves to be a ruse. With the aid of a human named Baltar, the Cylons carry out a massive attack on the Twelve Colonies and on the Colonial Fleet of starships that protect them. These attacks devastate the Colonial Fleet, lay waste to the Colonies, and virtually destroy their populations. Scattered survivors flee into outer space aboard a ragtag array of available spaceships. Of the entire Colonial battle fleet, only the Battlestar Galactica, a gigantic battleship and spacecraft carrier, appears to have survived the Cylon attack. Under the leadership of Commander Adama, the Galactica and the pilots of “Viper fighters” lead a fugitive fleet of survivors in search of the fabled thirteenth colony known as Earth.
Now, Dynamite Entertainment is proud to present Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica. A shady character known as Iblis finds Kali, the last Cylon. Kali bestows Iblis with the gifts of charm and persuasion, and both are rescued by the 1978 Battlestar Pegasus. Iblis uses these gifts to control the ’78 Pegasus in the hopes of eventually meeting the ’78 Battlestar Galactica (BSG) for ultimate control of that fleet. Iblis wants to destroy the fleet, side with the Cylons, and control the Cylons as their emperor and ruler because he hates humans. The 2003 BSG fleet gets caught up in the mess and the tensions run high between both fleets, giving Iblis pause to reconsider his plan. Plans are thwarted, Kali is killed, Iblis is shot out into space to “rot in hell,” while another wormhole opens up and the ’78 fleet are drawn in before the wormhole closes leaving the crew of ’03 fleet wondering what just happened.
Story/Spoilers
In part #1, Commander Cain and the crew of the Pegasus are revealed to be alive and have encountered an individual they never thought they would meet: the last Cylon.
Next in part #2, Two crews, separated by more than mere time and space, meet at last! And for all they share in common, they have just as many differences, which leads to suspicion and trouble. Meanwhile, Captain Cain and the Pegasus continue their quest with a most unlikely ally. Are they headed for home or straight into a trap?
Next in part #3, Just when the two Galactica crews are becoming adjusted to each other, a brand-new surprise comes through the wormhole. Meanwhile the match that fans have been demanding happens: Starbuck fraks Starbuck. Which you know is going to lead to nothing but trouble. While that’s going on, Baltargets a most unexpected visitor.
Next in part #4, Count Baltar has returned, and who know what plans he has for Gaius as he springs him from prison. Meanwhile a Cylon basestar acquires a most unexpected and deadly visitor, and Kali has a meeting with Athena that goes extremely badly.
Next in part #5, The ultimate showdown has begun! When a compromise can’t be reached, distrust has reached its peak, and the crews of the Galacticas square off in battle, pitting hero against hero! The fury of the Battlestars unleashed upon each other unless the treachery set against them can be discovered in time!
Finally in part #6, Kali and Iblis’ plan is discovered, but broken trust is a hard thing to overcome, harder still when lives are at stake! Can the crews of the Galacticas work together to save the last remnants of humanity, or will this spell the end of the species?
