A former KGB agent, Natasha Alianovna Romanova, better known as Natasha Romanoff or Black Widow, was trained by the top-secret Soviet brainwashing and training program, the Red Room, to become the ultimate “Super-Spy”. She defected from the Soviet Union to the US to join S.H.I.E.L.D. Subsequently, Black Widow proceeded to become a member of the Avengers and has been on the team on numerous occasions. She’s a woman with an enigmatic past which very few are acquainted with.
Now, Marvel Comics Presents, Black Widow #1 (May 2016)! Natasha has spent years gathering secrets, and when some of the darkest ones begin mysteriously going public, no one is safe. With her betrayed former confederates at S.H.I.E.L.D. on her heels and a lifetime of training and ingenuity at her disposal, Natasha’s out for answers in a knock-down-drag-out tale of action and espionage! Hidden enemies, old friends and unusual allies collide, and all eyes are on Black Widow. The chase is on!
Story/Spoilers
“Attention all personnel! This is Director Hill! Effective immediately, Agent Natasha Romanoff, code-name Black Widow is considered an enemy of S.H.I.E.L.D!” This message blares over the loud speakers as Black Widow takes off through an office space, fighting any S.H.I.E.L.D agent that gets in her way. She rushes through the office where she is cornered in a break room of some sort. At gun point, she secretly drops a small bomb and leaps out the window, starting a free fall. Agents chase after her and she steals one of their jet packs while still in free fall. She lands and commandeers a motorcycle, the agents close behind in a sports car. The chase ends in a violent crash. Black Widow peels herself from the ground and goes to hand-to-hand combat with the last standing S.H.I.E.L.D agent. She defeats him.
