Bog: Swamp Demon                            Comics Lot
Writers: Ryan Brown & Doug Brammer
Artists: Bo Robertson, Cory Hamscher & Jen Eric
Inkers: Jerry Minor, Chris Newman & Frank Moreno
Letterers: David Vance & Frank Moreno
Covers #1,3,4 by: Stephen R. Bissette
Cover #2 by: Matt Roach

“It escaped the pits of Hell to stalk a savage swampland.”
Bog was freed from the boiling depths by escaping through the Hell Well. A twisting, turning tunnel magically excavated by a long dead wizard. It seems the necromancer wished to possess the secrets of Hell by breaching her walls, but he only perished in the process, succumbing to a fiery demise at the very foot of this “Hole Down to Hell”. Now centuries since, Bog arrives to set foot upon this plane of existence, only to find his ectoplasmic essence must have form. Thus, finding the barren bones of the long dead sorcerer, he adopts them as his own and weaves a body from the muck and undergrowth of the stagnant, sloppy swamp. Bog has yet to fully realize the magical powers trapped in his borrowed skeleton, although they are beginning to manifest themselves as he does battle with his many foes who would once again seek to drag his soul to Hell. Bog has fought against such evils fiends as Mogog the Prince of Darkness, Baphomet, Etherial and the Hideous Hellaphant, Beast from Beyond. Needless to say, Bog has triumphed over them all. He and his swamp land home are safe… for the moment!

The Bog Swamp Demon was created by Ryan Brown and first appeared Mirage Comics’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Volume 2 comic book series , issue # 4 published in April 1994. The Bog Swamp Demon’s adventures were chronicled in issues #4 through #12 of the Mirage Studios 1993 title.

Now, Hall of Heroes, takes the Bog Swamp Demon to another level in this 4-issue mini-series. Featuring award-winning Swamp Thing artist Steve Bissette & Matt Roach illustrating the covers of the 4-issue run. (see the scans…awesome!!) And… Bo Robertson, Cory Hamscher, Jen Eric with Jerry Minor, Chris Newman, & Frank Moreno “giving life” to the Bog Swamp Demon in the interior pages, all in glorious black & white.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, “Deliverance”, Bog befriends a fallen priest and a runaway girl while he battling the Hell-spawned Mogog.

Next in issue #2, “Retributions”, Bog confronts the hellborne power of Baphomet.

Next in issue #3, “Divine Intervention”, Bog is attacked by the Helliphant, a hideous beast from beyond the gates of Hell.

Finally in issue #4, “Omens”, In his strangest story yet, Bog encounters a family of malformed Hell-billies deep within the swamp.

Collectible Entertainment comment: Bog Swamp Demon seems to be yet another ill-fated title that was originally to have run for more than the four issues that were published by Hall of Heroes because the last issue #4 ends with… to be continued… Nonetheless, the Bog Swamp Demon artwork is still awesome in this series from cover to interior. All in glorious Black & White. It’s good stuff!!
