Burial of the Rats is a 1995 made for TV science-fiction horror movie, adapted from a short story published in 1896 of the same name by Bram Stoker. The movie was directed by Dan Golden from a screenplay written by Somtow Sucharitkul (as S.P. Somtow), Tara McCann, & Adrien Hein. The feature starred Adrienne Barbeau with Maria Ford and Kevin Alber playing the role of Bram Stoker. In 19th Century France, a young Bram Stoker is captured by a man-hating, all-female cult of thong bikini wearers. Aided by flesh-eating rats, the warrior women raid the lairs of evil men and punish them. Our hero must decide between his wish to escape the dangerous cult and his love for one of its members. The film has since gained a cult following.

Now, Roger Corman’s Cosmic Comics presents, Bram Stoker’s Burial of the Rats. Based on the original film from Concorde-New Horizons, screenplay by S.P. Somtow, Tara McCann, & Adrien Hein, directed by Dan Golden, and produced by Anatoly Fradis, from a story by Bram Stoker. It’s a tale about a group of women who leave or kill their abusive husbands and join together under the leadership of the Rat Queen. The Rat Queen can communicate with rats as well as order them to kill whoever she feels deserves to be murdered. These women captured the young Stoker as he traveled in a stagecoach with his father. Bram fought back, buying his father the time needed to escape. Bram was captured, however, and faced execution at the hands of the rat women. As it turned out, his ordeal was just beginning…

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, Bram Stoker is abducted by a mysterious female sect who worship rats, and sows dissent.

Next in issue #2, The Rat Women raid a brothel in St. Cecile, with the reluctanly Bram in tow to act as official scribe. Bram and Madelaine consummate their relationship while the rat women liberate a brothel.

Finally in issue #3, Madelaine has been captured, and the Rat Women stage their most daring raid in one final attempt to free her. Bram mounts the rescue for Madeleine, and the rat community gets destroyed.
