“Tron” is a American science fiction film released by Walt Disney Productions. The film was written and directed by Steven Lisberger, based on a story by Lisberger and Bonnie MacBird. The film stars Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner, David Warner, Cindy Morgan, and Barnard Hughes. At the time, Tron’s use of backlit animation that was combined with computer animation and live action set it apart from any other science fiction movie previously made.. making “Tron” a truly ground-breaking, bar-raising movie event. Over time, “Tron” developed into a cult film and eventually spawned a franchise, which consists of multiple video games, comic books and an animated television series. A sequel titled Tron: Legacy directed by Joseph Kosinski was released on December 17, 2010, with Bridges and Boxleitner reprising their roles, and Lisberger acting as producer.

In anticipation of Walt Disney Pictures’ 3D high-tech adventure, Tron: Legacy, in theaters on Dec. 17, 2010 – Marvel Comics is proud to announce variant covers celebrating the film. Beginning in November, the Marvel Universe gets “TRON-ified” on selected variant covers featuring Marvel’s biggest heroes-Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and more re-interpreted out in the unique visual style of the TRON universe. The characters in the comics are drawn on the covers to appear like Tron characters. Disney used the covers of its subsidiary Marvel Comics to promote the Tron: Legacy movie.
