Set many years in the future from the award-winning ongoing series, Conan and the Demons and Khitai marks Conan’s first appearance as King in Dark Horse’s best-selling comics revival of the legendary fantasy hero. When King Conan receives an invitation from the Eastern kingdom of Khitai to open trade in precious jewels and spices, he decides that he will travel into this long-mysterious land. Yet to do so is perilous, as those who have requested his company may have far more devious intentions, and beasts unseen by Western eyes lurk amidst the shadows.

Story/Spoilers:
In part #1, “Culture Shock”, King Conan travels to the exotic land of Khitai, only to run afoul of an evil sorcerer and his demonic retainers in this tale of silent shadow warriors and ghastly monsters in the Far East. When Conan receives an invitation from the Eastern Kingdom of Khitai to open trade in precious jewels and spices, he decides that he will travel into this long-mysterious land. Yet, to do so is perilous, as those who have requested his company may have far more devious intentions, and beasts unseen by Western eyes lurk amidst the shadows.

Next in part #2, “Brothers in Arms”, Having traveled to the exotic land of Khitai, King Conan learns that his mysterious invitation came from Shinzen, the greatest warrior in the Far East, who has gone mad and stolen the most prized relic in Khitai-the obsidian sword Hakkiba, the Blade of Balance. Despite warnings that Shinzen is an insurmountable opponent, Conan sets out for the haunted monastery where Shinzen now resides, determined to confront this mad warrior.

Next in part #3, “The Beasts of the East”, King Conan battles an onslaught of monsters unlike any he’s seen in this penultimate issue of the series that pits the King of the Western world against a phantom warrior seeking to crush the Far East beneath his demonic fist. Shinzen was the greatest swordsman in the exotic kingdom of Khitai, until he became warped with dark power and stole the prized mystical blade Hakkiba. Now, Conan, his last remaining comrade, and the elite of the Khitai royal guard must stop Shinzen-no matter how many twisted beasts of unspeakable horror he throws in their way.

Finally in part #4, “The Power of the Priestess”, The ultimate battle begins as King Conan crosses blades with the demonic swordsman who has been terrorizing the kingdom of Khitai from his haunted monastery. While these two warriors engage in mortal combat, an even greater evil reveals itself, a darkness that threatens to consume first the Far East, and then the world, unless Conan can make the necessary sacrifice to end its reign of misery.
