Know, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars. Hither came Conan the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the earth under his sandaled feet.
Conan the Barbarian was a Marvel Comics mainstay for a number of years and a number of series, but in the mid-1990’s, the House of Ideas overhauled the Conan line and launched a series of limited series starring everyone’s favorite sword-wielding Cimmerian. This three issue limited series features the beautiful “Conan” artwork of Claudio Castellini. Awesome!!
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, Conan the Cimmerian comes to the aid of a village called Kyof’s Grove as dark forces lurking in the woods surrounding the town threaten to destroy them.
Next in issue #2, After observing Conan’s defeat of the people of Kyof’s Grove, Basilio Rez sent his messenger to “inspire” them to try harder… or face his wrath! With new found motivation, the bandits ambushed Conan and the Bossonian warband while on their way to attack Basilio Rez in his stronghold. While Conan and his comrades swiftly defeated the bandits, Basilio Rez animated a huge tree to attack the group. Unfortunately for Basilio Rez, Conan and the Bossonians defeated the tree-beast by burning it ashes. But now, Basilio Rez has awakened an entire forest full of tree-beasts to exact revenge…
Finally in issue #3, Conan and his female companion take on the wizard Basilio Rez in a final fight to the death.
