In 1983, Jim Henson, the man who introduced the Muppets to audiences everywhere, made the movie, “The Dark Crystal,” which featured some new “Muppet” creations. An evil race called the Skesis has wrestled control of the planet and it is up to two elflike creatures (Gelfings) to make things right. It is said that only a Gelfing can restore a broken piece of crystal to its original place. Once this is done, darkness will be crushed and good can take over the planet. The two Gelfings, Jen and Kira, must stop the Skesis from achieving their evil ends. In doing so, they meet a wide variety of bizarre creatures, some of which even join them on their quest.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, The quest begins. On the mystical world of Thra, a young Gelfling (a small elfin race) believes himself to be the last of his kind. Raised since a baby by the Mystics, a dying race reduced to but ten members, the gentle wizards of the natural powers of the world are the counterbalance to the evil Skeksis, a race of vulture-reptile monsters also dying, also reduced to ten members. The fate of all these beings is inextricably bound up with a mysterious Dark Crystal, whose baleful karmic powers and vampiric forces doom everyone to work out their destinies in the context of a Prophecy that will save or doom the world…

Finally in issue #2, The power of the Skesis grows! The Mystics are on the move! Jen races against the clock to heal the Dark Crystal! Don’t miss the startling conclusion to the official comics adaptation of the Jim Henson epic fantasy adventure film!
