Dark Horse Presents is an anthology series, each issue collecting several new short stories. Some stories are one-shots, while many span several issues.
Marvel has Marvel Comics Presents; DC had DC Comics Presents; and… Dark Horse Comics has…well, you can guess. Dark Horse Presents isn’t just a clone of the big two’s try-out books. For one, it’s published in a hefty black-and-white format, packing two or three times as many stories into each issue as any of its competitors. Also, the range of stories is, well, frankly amazing! A single issue may start with a terrible spoof of Dark Horse itself, move on to a gritty true-crime drama such as Sin City, switch over to a fairy tale adapted from Oscar Wilde, cut loose with an Aliens tale, then return to part two of the spoof. Unbelievable! Good Stuff!!
Dark Horse Presents #146 & 147 features, Aliens vs Predator: The Web is a two-part story. Additional back-up stories include; Shabrken: Dark Exorcism, Glack, Ghost: The Woes of Sinful Bachleors, & Ragnok. All presented in Glorious Black & White. Awesome!
Dark Horse Presents #146 & 147 contains:

Dark Horse comics premiere anthology presents in this issue the beginning of a two-part Aliens vs Predator saga. The starship Herakles is on a collision course with the galaxy’s two deadliest species in part one of Aliens vs. Predator: The Web. The witch-priestess Shabrkena discovers where magic fails, nature may prevail in the conclusion of “Dark Exorcism.” And Ghost plays a deadly game with Arcadia’s most powerful mob bosses in part 2 of “The Woes of Sinful Bachelors.”

Crew of the space freighter Herakles is awoken from stasis in an unknown sector of space with their navigational computer destroyed. Upon receiving a computer-activated distress beacon, the crew land on the planet with the plan of stealing the computer and returning back to the ship. Upon investigating the signal on foot, the crew encounter a gigantic orbital factory, before being suddenly attacked by Xenomorphs. With only crewmembers Rebeck, Icart and Cord left alive, they flee into the factory’s interior, only to be met with an unusually grandiose interior decor. They are subsequently encountered by billionaire industrialist Robert Sheldon, whose grotesque body is confined to a large mechanoid spider. Originally the son of colonist Bob Sheldon, who was bought up within the Chigusa-Corp-owned colony of Prosperity Wells, Robert was one of the few survivors of a massacre at the hands of a hunting party of Yautja, and he has since dedicated his life to eradicating the species, being driven insane by his lust for revenge.

But that was before he was cursed, stuck in a scarec row’s body, and dropped into Twentieth Century America. What’s a god to do? Also in this issue: the conclusions to Ghost and Aliens vs. Predator!

Sheldon uses a distress beacon to lure unsuspecting hunters onto the planet, before unleashing a horde of Xenomorphs onto them and subsequently detonating a tactical nuke, killing them all. Compromising his security, he also intends to pacify the Herakles’ crew’s escape desiring to transplant their heads into his mindless drone servants, as he has done with other unfortunate victims. Fleeing from the madman and his drones, Cord is shot and abandoned by Rebeck and Icart, and the two make a break to their ship whilst a recently arrived party of hunters battle a wave of Xenomorphs. However, Robert detonates his nuke, killing everyone within the vicinity. Introspectively, Robert reveals that he is fully aware that he has become a monster, and although he initially believed he killed Predators out of revenge, he realizes now that he does so out of sheer pleasure.
