Description

Dark Horse Presents #47                       Comic
Featuring Jungle of the Giants, Burn Out, Desperate, & Monster Island.  Awesome!
Cover by: Brian Buniak & Chris Chalenor

Dark Horse Presents is an anthology series, each issue collecting several new short stories. Some stories are one-shots while many span several issues.

Marvel has Marvel Comics Presents; DC had DC Comics Presents; and… Dark Horse Comics has…well, you can guess. Dark Horse Presents isn’t just a clone of the big two’s try-out books. For one, it’s published in a hefty black-and-white format, packing two or three times as many stories into each issue as any of its competitors. Also, the range of stories is, well, frankly amazing! A single issue may start with a terrible spoof of Dark Horse itself, move on to a gritty true-crime drama such as Sin City, switch over to a fairy tale adapted from Oscar Wilde, cut loose with IT! The Beast, then return to part two of the spoof. Unbelievable! Good Stuff!!

Dark Horse Presents #47 features the monster extravaganza of the decade… all in Glorious Black & White. In this issue, “Giant” monsters take the spotlight with four stories of big, slimy, scaly, teeth-gnashing, tail-thrashing, building-smashing beasties. From “Jungle of the Giants” to “Burn Out” to “Desperate” and finally to “Monster Island”, there is no shortage of giant monsters causing mayhem to puny defenseless humans. Poor humans.

The woman escapes and happens upon a handsome jungle adventurer with a gun, but her relief is short lived as the “Kong” like ape comes stomping in. Unexpectedly, out of nowhere, Tarzan comes swinging in to save the day… but the “Kong” like ape scares him away. The woman succumbs and accepts her fate.

While debarking the craft, the team is suddenly attacked by a giant flying monster. One of the team is snatched up and the team shoots at the monster hoping to save their friend, but he doesn’t make it. Again, suddenly, out of nowhere, a gigantic reptilian foot comes crashing down on the team’s ship, utterly destroying it. The stranded team despairs and is quickly falls prey… one by one to various island monsters. One sole survivor believes that he has made his escape and vows to return in vengeance for the team that was lost. But that new chain of mysterious islands isn’t finished with him yet…
