Story/Spoilers
In part #1, Dead former United States presidents, from George Washington to Gerald Ford, have been resurrected – and that’s bad. The Marvel heroes can’t be the ones to stop them. Someone is needed with the reputation, skills and plausible deniability to take out these com-monsters in chief. Deadpool time is Now! Be here as Deadpool de-un-deadifies ex-presidents left and right – matching wits with Tricky Dick Nixon, fighting a grudge match against Honest Abe Lincoln and battling Ronald Reagan – in space! Do you need more than that?! Fine, then: monkeys! And not everyone escapes the epic finale alive – besides the presidents, duh. This is the Deadpool series you will marry someday! In Wade We Trust!
Next in part #2, On a beach… somewhere… Deadpool basks in the sun with a mighty headache. Sue Storm appears and offers him a beer to help with the head pain Abe Lincoln gave him moments before. Emma Frost then appears and the two ladies start fighting over who gets Deadpool’s attention. He watches with glee, though states that he’s got plenty to give both of them. Dazzler, looking superfly on roller skates, rolls up and invites Deadpool for a skate-date. He agrees but is saddened when She-Hulk kicks Dazzler into the sea. She-Hulk then picks up Deadpool and kisses him. (Sue wins the fight.)
Deadpool wakes up in Independence Hall to see the ghost of Benjamin Franklin celebrating his ability to wake up Deadpool. Deadpool springs into action and tries to kill Ben. Franklin has to explain to the Canadian merc that he was never a president. He simply figured out a way to electronically keep himself on Earth. He also explains that he is there to offer aid. At a military graveyard, dead presidents George Washington and John F. Kennedy try to coerce the hippie-magician into raising an army for their razing of the United States. The magician has second thoughts, however, and tries to flee after throwing JFK and blowing fire at George Washington (wooden teeth!). Turning invisible and hiding, he is shamed into revealing himself when the presidents use killing two old people as leverage for the hippie’s help. He gives in and summons the dead military men to rise. Deadpool calls in to Agent Preston and explains that the situation may be a bit worse than thought. He also mentions that Ben Franklin is helping him (she can’t see him). She decides to get personally involved and tells him to standby for transport to Los Angeles to stop Theodore Roosevelt from killing zoo animals. In L.A., Teddy Roosevelt continues his hunt. A bear approaches and knocks his gun out of his hands. No worries, Roosevelt punches the bear for a loop and heads back for his gun. In the air, Deadpool jumps from a plane and lands very awkwardly in the zoo. He approaches Roosevelt and shoots him in the head. Seeing that as a sign of aggression, Roosevelt pummels Deadpool. Ben Franklin shows up as Deadpool dusts himself off and tells him that electricity should be the answer in getting rid of the dead presidents. An elephant charges before Ben can elaborate and pierces Deadpool with a tusk through his abdomen. Deadpool and Roosevelt exchange shots while Deadpool tries to work himself free from the elephant. The two men then fight on the ground (Deadpool’s guts still hanging out) until the elephant grabs Roosevelt by the head. Deadpool punches him in the nads for good measure. He then sees an electrical box and grabs a very large cord with exposed wires. He orders the elephant to drop Roosevelt before zapping the president. The elephant doesn’t understand, however, and gets electrocuted too. Agent Preston shows up to see the elephant burning and laments that they may need more help. In Manhattan, Deadpool, Preston, and Franklin approach the home of Dr. Strange. Wong immediately turns them away.
Next in part #3, Deadpool vs. Dead Presidents…this time, Tricky Dick Nixon! Can even Doctor Strange help the M w/the M? This is the Deadpool series you will marry someday! Deadpool finishes telling Dr. Strange about the recent events with the dead presidents coming back to life via a necromancer. Dr. Strange, however, is unimpressed and is about to show Deadpool, Agent Preston, and the ghost of Benjamin Franklin to the door but first takes a peak into the story to give the trio a real look at what is going on. Opening his third eye, Dr. Strange is surprised to find Richard Nixon raising from the dead. Dr. Strange explains that the necromancer is working with powers he knows little about and is bringing the presidents back to life without their humanity. He leaves to meditate. Wong instructs the visitors to be ready to depart at a moment’s notice. Some presidents meet in a family dentistry to try and resolve a dispute concerning the course of action to take. A spaceship has been proposed and Ford has to remind everyone that the nation doesn’t even have a space program anymore. The necromancer, shackled, tries to spout some sorcery to help him escape but Ford knocks the wind out of him. This little bit of incantations is enough for Dr. Strange to locate the men and he teleports the group to the dentistry (minus Ben Franklin because he is still mad about a past indiscretion). Deadpool begins shooting presidents while Dr. Strange vanishes with the necromancer. The spell book the necromancer uses is dropped, however, and Washington claims it to aid in future destruction. On the astral plane, Dr. Strange banishes the necromancy from Michael the necromancer. Michael then explains that he learned of his skills when he was in fifth grade and had wished life back into his dead hamster. He was later recruited out of college and trained by S.H.I.E.L.D. to hone his powers. Outside the dentistry, Deadpool takes on Washington, Ford, and Lincoln. He tells Agent Preston to leave and she does so with the promise to return with more help. Deadpool is smashed inside a car, receives a sword in the back, and then kicked into a building. He thinks help has arrived when a helicopter touches down but it is only more dead presidents. Nixon hops off and recognizes that he’s at Watergate. Ford trips and gets sliced to bits by the helicopter’s rotor blade. Dr. Strange returns as the helicopter departs. He pulls Washington’s sword from Deadpool’s back and begins another round of meditation. Deadpool turns his attention to Nixon who is bent on destroying Watergate. Deadpool attacks but is quickly thrown into an elderly woman’s apartment. Nixon follows and starts whooping Deadpool until the merc can kick Nixon in the Little Nixon. Dr. Strange then appears and gives Deadpool the Washington sword and explains that it is now enchanted to fell the undead. Deadpool wastes no time in sticking it in Nixon’s chest. The president explodes in a flash of pink light. Outside, Dr. Strange explains that the sword should help Deadpool defeat the rest of the undead presidents. He then whispers a seemingly dire observation to Deadpool and departs. Agent Preston states that Michael the necromancer is cooperating and they’ll have to see what comes next.
Next in part #4, It’s South Florida and the silhouette of one Marilyn Monroe can be seen in a warehouse stocked with heavy firearms. She calls out to JFK, an undead president who plots to invade Cuba. He calls her over but is disappointed that she looks so awful. Marilyn, however, turns out to be Deadpool, who flashes JFK while pulling out his mystical sword. With JFK ignominiously killed, Deadpool turns on the hired help and blows them all away. He then assures the reader that there are plenty more dead presidents to kill. Later, Deadpool is ordered to the Golden Gate Bridge; some presidents are planning on blowing it up. Deadpool arrives and confronts the men right after instructing the reader to blast “Five Minutes Along” by Pantera because it is montage time. He whips out his sword and slices up the present dead presidents and then calls for his ride as he leaps from the bridge. Agent Preston gets him just in time, though he lands on the roof of the plane with a nasty crunch. Two healed legs later and Deadpool is at the Hoover Dam to confront more presidents. He wastes no time wasting a few presidents. When other try to escape Deadpool chases them with their forsaken dynamite. He plants it in their car just in time for the dynamite to ignite. Deadpool, propelled from the blast, is rocketed against the S.H.I.E.L.D. plane. Agent Preston pulls him in only to order him out for another mission in at the nuclear plant in San Onofre. At San Onofre, Deadpool boards a golf cart and careens towards more dead presidents. He gets a few before Lincoln, once again, shoots Deadpool in the head. Lincoln climbs aboard a helicopter and begins his ascent when Deadpool uses some quick thinking and hurls his iPhone onto the helicopter (for tracking purposes). The presidents get away. Aboard the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier, Agent Gorman continues to hustle Agent Preston along. He’s tired of wasting time on Michael the Necromancer and wants Preston to put all her focus on getting rid of the rest of the presidents. Gorman leaves and Ben Franklin moves in for a chat with Michael. He explains that the agents don’t like his story about some other recruit named Tango (who could supposedly validate Michael’s story of being a magical recruit of S.H.I.E.L.D.). Michael then states that the agent’s name was Gorman in hopes that the information will help speed things along. It obviously does. Agent Preston is able to finally find some evidence that Michael the Necromancer is telling the truth, especially when she finds a picture of Michael with her superior, Agent Gorman. Agent Adsit then states that Deadpool’s GPS has confirmed Abe Lincoln is in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the MGM Grand, Adrian van Lundgren has just beaten an opponent in ultimate fighting. His victory speech is interrupted by Lincoln’s entrance. Lincoln pummels Adrian as Deadpool’s crew enters the arena. Deadpool proposes a fight, to which Lincoln accepts. Deadpool puts his weapons to the side despite the discouragement of his crew. The fight begins and Lincoln completely thrashes Deadpool. With second thoughts about making this a weaponless fight, Deadpool asks for his magic sword and decapitates Lincoln. He then decapitates the other present dead presidents. President Taft arrives (in a bathtub) too late to save Lincoln but takes his body and escapes anyway. The crowd cheers for Deadpool and Adrian shares some victory spotlight with him. In space, however, a Russian ship heads for the International Space Station. One of the astronauts isn’t an intended passenger. Ronald Reagan has stowed-away and he kills the crew. His destination isn’t to the ISS but towards something that the old Soviet Union left in orbit.
Next in part #5, Ben Franklin congratulates Deadpool on his defeat of Lincoln outside the ultimate fighting venue. A kid runs up and gushes that Deadpool is his favorite costumed freak. Deadpool initially blows the kid off but then turns and throws the kid his mask. The mask hits the kid right in his beaming face. When he pulls the mask down he realizes that it is covered in Deadpool’s blood. He runs away shrieking about getting the blood off his face. Michael the Necromancer shows up and states that his meditations have produced information on Reagan’s actions. Michael explains that his magic can get Deadpool up to Reagan but he won’t be able to bring him back. Deadpool doesn’t care; he figures S.H.I.E.L.D.can have a shuttle ready to pick him up as soon as he’s thwarted Reagan’s space weapons plans. Deadpool is teleported into the Russian nuclear space station. He is in a corridor with cages of monkeys to either side of him. One monkey points to a button that Deadpool pushes that opens the cages. Deadpool learns to never trust a space monkey; one speaks and orders the rest to kill Deadpool. Reagan uses the distraction to arm the nuclear warheads. Deadpool powers through the door (with killer monkeys in tow) and confronts Reagan. The dead presidents merely rips out the weapons control panel and pummels Deadpool with it. Deadpool hops back up and pulls his mystical sword, which Reagan very easily knocks away. Deadpool is left to resort to his regular swords and slices Reagan’s belly open, exposing tons of jelly beans. With Reagan occupied with his lost jelly beans, Deadpool finds the station’s main controls and shifts the craft’s position in space. He then hurls a killer monkey at Reagan, who has no problem ripping the head off to get back to fighting Deadpool. He gets pumped with bullets and mocks Deadpool’s attempt to kill him with such a rudimentary weapon. Deadpool, however, wasn’t just aiming for Reagan but also for the wall in the space station. Deadpool pushes Reagan into the wall and the pressure sucks Reagan’s big body through six small holes. Deadpool then boards a small pod and heads for Earth. The small pod burns up in the atmosphere and Deadpool falls a very, very long way. Later, in the helicarrier, Deadpool is reincorporated and being debriefed about what is left to accomplish. Michael and Benjamin teleport in and Michael says that he can track George Washington on the next time the president uses dark magic. Unfortunately, Washington holds Michael’s tome of dark magic and can do the same thing. He tracks Michael to the helicarrier and teleports himself and Lyndon B. Johnson aboard to confront Deadpool. Deadpool once again has his mystical sword taken from him and he once again pumps a president full of lead. Washington, however, ends the skirmish by taking Agent Preston captive. He then breaks her neck. Deadpool gets his sword back and slices up Johnson and turns to get Washington only to have Washington slit Deadpool’s throat. Washington turns to kill Michael, but he is awakened by Ben Franklin. Michael teleports the bodies of Preston and Deadpool to the Washington monument.
Finally in part #6, Deadpool wakes up to Michael the Necromancer. He is told that Agent Preston died and that George Washington’s army is wreaking havoc at the Nation’s capitol. Michael points out a magical sphere in which Washington and two other president’s have holed up while the undead armies fight the Washington, D.C. police. As Deadpool ponders his next move, Taft and the head of Abraham Lincold attack. Agent Adsit comes to the rescue, however, and dispatches the motley duo. Adsit tells Deadpool that the Avengers are on the way but that Washington, D.C. may not last that long. Deadpool approaches the magic sphere and slowly begins to enter it. Seeing no ill effects from putting his hand through the pink shell, Deadpool fully commits and waltzes through. Upon reaching the other side, however, he falls over dead in a pile of formerly unsuccessful S.H.I.E.L.D.agents. He wakes up in a bright place and is greeted by someone who loves him. He isn’t able to get her name before she helps him come back to life to confront George Washington inside his magical sphere. Washington can’t believe that Deadpool survives and blames it on Deadpool already being dead inside. Seeing the need for more power, Washington uses some magic to suck the energy out of his two allies (Dwight D. Eisenhower and Rutherford B. Hayes). Deadpool first re-acquires his mystical sword via a grappling hook. He then cuts off one of Washington’s arms and then stabs the mystical book Washington had stolen from Michael the Necromancer. Washington then loses another arm and then both his legs. Finally, as payback for killing Agent Preston, Deadpool rips off George Washington’s head with his bare hands. The spells enchanting the undead seem to break and Deadpool notices that he is holding the lucid head of the first president, who thanks him for ending the nightmare. Regardless of the praise he receives, Deadpool kicks Washington’s head into the lap of the Lincoln Monument. Doctor Strange appears while Deadpool tries to shake off a headache to remind him of an appointment. The Doctor then vanishes. Agent Gorman then arrives and begins blaming Deadpool for the mistakes of the past few days. Deadpool is fed up with Gorman’s hypocrisy and rips off part of his mustache. Before Gorman can get a threat out, however, the Avengers show up and congratulate Deadpool on how he handled such a rough situation. Gorman refuses to pay Deadpool and has to be dragged away by Agent Adsit before things get too dicey.
With the action all over, Deadpool wants to simply take a huge break from superheroing. Michael the Necromancer has other plans, however, and wants to talk to Deadpool about something serious. Deadpool shrugs him off but then learns for himself what Michael wanted to tell him. Deadpool begins hearing Agent Preston’s voice. Looking in the pool at the Washington Monument, Deadpool sees Agent Preston reflected back at him. Michael admits that in trying to save Preston that he had to put her somewhere – Deadpool just happened to have some space in his head.
