Description
Dinosaurs: An Illustrated Guide Comics Lot
It’s a Dinosaur enthusiast’s dream come true… and it’s all presented in Glorious Black & White. Awesome!!
Writer: Charles Yates
Artist: Charles Yates
Letterer: Charles Yates
Editor: Gary Reed
All Covers by: Charles Yates
Dinosaurs have fascinated the minds of adults and children for years. The gigantic and mysterious beasts that once ruled the earth seems so mythological, that modern animals become boring in comparison.
Tome Press presents an informative and entertaining guide to these ancient ground shakers. Lavishly illustrated by comics veteran Charles Yates with an opening introduction and list of theories as to why the dinosaurs no longer exist… or do they?
Dinosaurs: An Illustrated Guide… A two-issue series that showcases the dinosaurs as well as providing information on their classification, evolution, and demise. The first issue will cover carnivores and the second will focus on the herbivores.
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, “The Carnivores”, In the west, the setting sun was a chorus of brilliant streaks of crimson and orange, the volcanic activity made every sunset a sight to behold. In the east, the moon was rising. The predators were shaking off sluggishness from the afternoon nap. It would soon be dark, it would soon be their time. As the temperature dropped, the dinosaurs with less capacity to create their own body heat would become dull and sluggish, they would become prey. It was two hundred-thirty million years ago and the Age of the Dinosaur was about to dawn. Soon the dinosaur would come in every conceivable shape, size and texture. Through the long span of the dinosaur, the process of natural selection sorted out the efficient life forms from those destined for extinction. The predators that came were the most efficient killing machines the world has ever seen. This is a brief look at the predatory dinosaurs.
Presented in Glorious Black & White. (see the interior scans) Awesome!!
Finally in issue #2, “The Herbivores”, The Dinosaur reign was 140 million years and during that time period, the Dinosaurs were truly the dominate life form on the planet. Their evolutionary advantage of erect posture, their probable cold-bloodedness in a humid and hot environment, and perhaps a little bit of luck put them in the front of the pack and their longevity speaks for their success story. It is debatable on what factors permitted the dinosaurs to have such a dominating role as the hierarchy of the animal kingdom. It is obvious that their upright mobility allowed their massive size and that the warm earth favored the cold blooded animals but perhaps, as some suggest, it was simple luck that allowed them to survive a major event early on when apparently almost all other animals were wiped out that allowed them to develop in opportunistic ways to take over the earth. Whatever the cause, the dinosaurs eventually became so dominate that they were both predatory and prey. In this issue, we’ll take a look at the herbivore (plant eating) dinosaurs which had beasts of such size that the ground must have shook when they moved.
