Letterer: Taylor Esposito
Editors: Dave Land & Taylor Smith
Covers by: Drew Johnson & Guy Major
Evil Dead II (also known in publicity materials as Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn) is a 1987 American black comedy horror film directed by Sam Raimi; it is a sequel to his 1981 horror film The Evil Dead. The film is written by Raimi and Scott Spiegel. Evil Dead II was produced by Robert Tapert and stars Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams, who vacations with his girlfriend to a remote cabin in the woods. He discovers an audio tape of recitations from a book of ancient texts, and when the recording is played, it unleashes a number of demons which possess and torment him.
Evil Ed, as he is known, was once a research assistant to the man who uncovered the Necronomicon Ex Mortis. We all know what happens to those who read from the cursed book. Evil Ed seems to have aquired a bit of power, and quickly decides to put it to good use: to go after Ash Williams. Recruiting some of his best (or worst) archangels of evil: Hitler, Dracula, Rasputin, Bin Laden and The Mummy, Ed is pulling out all the stops.
Now, Space Goat Productions presents, “Evil Dead 2: Revenge of Evil Dead”! Deadites in the desert! Highways to hell! Buses turned into killing machines! The Deadite madness goes all out in this all-new 30th Anniversary special. Ash wins a bus trip to Las Vegas from a bogus Employee of the Month award which turns out to be a trap when his bus gets attacked by Evil Ed and some of history’s worst dudes as henchmen. Ash’s free trip to Las Vegas quickly goes off the tracks as Deadite Evil Ed attacks with an entourage of the baddest bads. Hitler, Dracula, The Mummy, Bin Laden, and Rasputin are all here, jammed full with those crazy Kandarian Demons! But hey, a trip to Vegas is a trip to Vegas, right?
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, Playing to Ash’s ego, they work up an Employee of the Month award with a vacation to Las Vegas. Las Vegas, the city of sin, a trip by bus. Hey, who is going to turn down a free trip to Vegas? Going through a tunnel quickly leads the bus off the schedules path. Luckily Ash packed his shotgun and chainsaw in his carry-on luggage, as he is met with a significant number of deadites as soon as the bus passes the tunnel. Now, typically a bus full of deadites would mean the end of an average person. Ash, is certainly no average guy. He comes to the party armed with weapons as well as experience. Even Ed’s Generals are not immune to his abilities. One is shot. Another decapitated. And then Ash gets his hands on one sweet ride. Now, trap or not, you know he’s going to have a good time working through these deadite fools.
Finally in issue #2, Ash charges into the heart of darkness in his beaten-up battle bus, crushing Deadites left and right, and fending off Ed’s big league bad guys. At the end of the road, Ash confronts Ed in his temple of temptation and goes mano e mano with him. Or rather, mano e deadite. It’s the final showdown in Evil Vegas, sure, but how is Ash supposed to get out of Hell once all is said and done?
