Charles Xavier devoted his life to bridging the gap of fear between humans and mutants. Himself a powerful telepath, he trained other mutants in the use of their powers, instilling in them a love for all people. For years, his X-Men have protected innocents from evil, mutant or not.

The twisted child called Legion uses his awesome powers to travel back in time and kill the young Xavier, and thus he completely changes the course of world history. A man who should have been a strong leader is now only a memory, and his dream of peaceful coexistence is all but forgotten. The powerful Apocalypse controls most of the world and imposes his brutal version of Darwinism on humans and mutants alike.

But dreams, unlike men, are hard to kill, and mutants still fight for freedom in Xavier’s name. The struggle to defeat the ultimate evil mutant and end the Age of Apocalypse forever, rages on.

Factor X focuses on the Summers brothers, Cyclops and Havok. Together with Aurora, Northstar, and Cannonball, they work for Mr. Sinister as a strike force that captures renegade mutants and humans. Meanwhile a twisted, gray-furred version of the Beast performs genetic experiments on those mutants and humans to further Sinister’s goal of creating hybrid super soldiers for Apocalypse. Things get complicated when Sinister, weary of Apocalypse’s shortsighted machinations, abandons the Summers brothers, and they – and particularly Cyclops – are forced to wrestle with the morality of Apocalypse’s world order.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, “Sinister Neglect”, Scott Summers betrays his leader – and father – Mr. Sinister! Sinister is gone and his adopted children are left by their own. The Elite Mutant Force has been one of the fiercest group of apocalypse forces for years, using their powers to control the major insults against the dark lord, but now the fall of the empire has begun. Which side will choose each prelate?

Next in issue #2, “Abandoned Children”, Scott Summers has already betrayed his “father”, Mr. Sinister.  Is he now plotting against his brother Alex? The breeding pens has thousands of mutants imprisoned, using the power of four embodied telepath mutants, Sinister managed to sedate them all. One single mutant has taking relevance in this new order, Lorna Darne aka Polaris who has been for years imprisoned, mentally unbalanced, believes she Magneto´s daughter, now she is the only mutant that saw who was helping prisoners to escape from the breeding pens. Sinister has gone and his trace with him, Apocalypse propose to Cyclops be the new Horseman in the near future, but Havok has something to say, and he won´t allow that his brother get this rank without a fight.

Next in issue #3, “Open Wounds”, Cyclops vs. Havok! Jean Grey captured! The struggle for control of the breeding pens comes to a shocking climax! Focusing on Sinister’s royal family, this title is fused to the nucleus of the saga! The last ally of Angel has been caught so now he must to make a decision! Cyclops is revealed to be the traitor freeing prisoners from the pens with Jean Grey opening the pens.

Finally in issue #4, “Reckonings”, The Factor X story arc concludes! Havok has ascended to High Prelate and he has orders to kill all the survivors of the slave pens!  When Jean and Scott band together to free the slave pens, will they discover their fatal attraction?  The fallen Angel now has to choose a side! Plus: Scott and Havok’s family fued erupts, leading to a deadly confrontation.
