Description

Frazetta: Index Bonanza               Paperback
Indexed by: Milton Courter
Cover by: Frank Frazetta (variant of A Requiem for Sharks 1973)

Behold! There was a dreaming of a new age of art. Frazetta illustrated it, and the earth shook.
Frank Frazetta was an American fantasy and science fiction artist, noted for comic books, paperback book covers, paintings, posters, LP record album covers, the animated film “Fire and Ice”, and other media. He is often referred to as the “Godfather of fantasy art”, and one of the most renowned illustrators of the 20th century. He was also the subject of a 2003 documentary Painting with Fire. Frank Frazetta was inducted into the comic book industry’s Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame, the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame, the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame, the Science Fiction Hall of Fame, and was awarded a Life Achievement Award from the World Fantasy Convention. Frank Frazetta‘s work in comics and animation has won him world-wide recognition and a “cult” fan following. Of which I am one.

Scott Company Publishing presents the Frazetta Index Bonanza. A catalog of Frank Frazetta’s artwork as indexed by Milton Courter. After a brief introduction by Milton Courter, you dive right into page after page of Frank Frazetta’s published and reprinted work. There are NO pictures (except for a dedication illustration by Jeff Peterson on the Indicia page… and the cover art which is also reprinted in Black & White on the Title page)… only indexed lists that are categorized by Hardcovers, Softcovers, Magazines, Comics, et cetera. From page 4 to page 131, an overwhelming bibliography that’s sure to awe even the most ardent Frank Frazetta enthusiast. Wow!! … and this was published in 2001, so it is nowhere close to Frank Frazetta’s complete catalog. Truly incredible, a must have resource for any Frank Frazetta enthusiast and/or collector. Page 132 features an advertisement for Frazetta items. And finally, but not in the very least, the cover features Frank Frazetta’s masterpiece… a variant of “A Requiem for Sharks” 1973.

Frazetta, the master visionary fantasy artist of our time, who with one stroke of a brush, and a push of a pen has entertained and intrigued thousands for fifty years, is a never dying icon of pure artistic pleasure. He has the ability to freeze a frame in any action scene, capturing the exact moment for us to enjoy forever. His male heroes are mightier than most, his women have curves most women know nothing about. And as a statement to his popularity, his work is enjoyed and collected by young and old alike around the world.

This book can be used by the hard-core collector and the novice both, by its 1600 items, showing where his art is reprinted from its original publication. Many times, the original publication of his art is impossible to find, and not only that, but expensive. Somewhere, someplace, using this index you can find his art reprinted. The final line: it is entertaining just to see the many, many publications where his work is and has been featured.

Paperback is bagged & boarded and will be carefully / securely packaged then shipped via USPS Priority Mail to ensure that it arrives to you perfectly and quickly.
