Meanwhile, Hag and Troll decide to take Deathwatch’s body back home, unfortunately, they eventually cross paths with John and the Ghost Rider. After a fight Hag and Troll escape and John agrees to help Ghost Rider pursue them to help save some humans they have trapped.

Spider-Man and Father Martin, Blaze accidentally grazes Venom with his hellfire gun, almost killing him. Blaze, Ghost Rider and Venom go after Deathwatch’s body when it is taken away by the Deathspawn. Ghost Rider has to stop Venom from killing Spider-Man. He tells Venom it’s time to choose their enemies and they should rescue the innocents. However, when the deathspawn escape with Deathwatch’s body Ghost Rider tries to rescue Deathwatch’s body rather than help the defenseless people. John helps him to make the right decision and Venom, Ghost Rider and Blaze go to rescue the helpless humans.

Everyone, including Venom is captured and John says it is time to get back to the carnival.

Steel Wind and Steel Vengeance then attack them. In the middle of the fight Mephisto shows up and transports John and the Ghost Rider away.

John Blaze and Ghost Rider are transported to somewhere else where Mephisto tells them he needs to test their powers and if they pass, they will be allowed to ally with him in the upcoming fight against the forces breaking down the dimensional walls. He sends two Soulless Ones to fight them. John and Ghost Rider are able to defeat them and Mephisto says they passed the first test. He crushes the Soulless Ones and says he can’t kill John and the Ghost Rider so he must steal their souls.

Steel Vengeance is killed by Styge for disobedience and Steel Wind is sent to capture Blaze. John and Ghost Rider arrive back at the Carnival to find that it has been attacked by the demons while they were gone. When the demons left many of the people went out hunting them. Timmy sneaks out to look for his father. Mephisto meets with a human who wants vengeance on the Ghost Rider and when he sells his soul Mephisto transforms him into Vengeance. John and the Ghost Rider go after Timmy and save him. When they arrive back at the carnival, they find it under siege by Steel Wind and the demons.

During the fight Steel Wind kills Eli, who gives John an envelope before he dies. Vengeance attacks the Ghost Rider thinking that he is Zarathos. Kody is shown to be some kind of demon when Clara is taken and Miranda manifests some kind of power that seems to defeat the remaining demons. Centerius is revealed as Styge.

The army comes to clean up the mess left at the carnival. They take Eli’s body to his son’s cabin to bury him. Vengeance follows Ghost Rider attacks. Quinn opens a portal sending him somewhere else. The rest of the group shows up at the cabin after Miranda uses her powers to make the guardsmen who caught them forget they ever saw them. John opens a box that Eli left with his son for him, and Eli’s head appears saying that he has left John something in the box to help him and that his son Quinn is also there to help him now. It ends with everyone standing before the graves of their loved ones.

Skinner attacks a truck driver so that he will have skin to wear. Ghost Rider helps John and his friends when they are attacked by Lilin and then asks John for help. John refuses because he has his own problems, but he relents when Ghost Rider transforms back to Dan and tells John that Centurius has his mother. On their way to rescue them they are attacked by Skinner who viciously cuts John. While Ghost Rider is battling Skinner Centurius shows up and manages to spirit John (and Skinner) away before Ghost Rider can stop them. Caretaker appears and tells the Ghost Rider that Seer can help him.

Ghost Rider has rescued Blaze from Centurius and Lilith and brings him to Quinn’s cabin for help. John is cut and hellfire is pouring out of his wounds. Quinn helps John to focus and control the hellfire. Centurius taps into the power of Ghost Rider’s chain. John learns the hellfire and a piece of the medallion of power is contained in him. Vengeance again comes looking for Ghost Rider. Vengeance is defeated and transforms back into Lt. Badalino. John knocks him out and they leave him behind. Caretaker shows up to help him and says that he is needed for the assault on Centurius.

Caretaker continues to reveal to Blaze, Dan Ketch and Michael Badilino their heritage. Lilith tries to convince Zarathos that she is his mother. Caretaker takes John, Ghost Rider and Vengeance to fight Zarathos and Ghost Rider manages to defeat him when he taps into the Medallion of Power. Zarathos, Lilith, Pilgrim and Nakota are drawn away into another dimension. Caretaker reveals that John Blaze and Dan Ketch are brothers.

Zarathos is regaining his memory and he realizes that Lilith is not his mother. Blaze, Ghost Rider and Vengeance go back to the cemetery to fight Zarathos. Morbius snares the Medallion of Power. He throws it to Ghost Rider and Caretaker helps Blaze, Ghost Rider and Vengeance to access its power. They defeat Zarathos and send Lilin and the mystical mist back to their own dimension. The Medallion of Power explodes. Zarathos and The Fallen return.

The Midnight Sons meet up at Cypress Hills Cemetery in the hope of having the final battle with Zarathos and The Fallen. Before they can enter the mausoleum, all, but Ghost Rider, Blaze, Vengeance and Captain Stacy Dolan are trapped above ground. The three spirits of vengeance release Caretaker before Zarathos arrives. He transports Ghost Rider (and Stacy Dolan by mistake) to Glastonbury, England. Zarathos hopes to get help from the Ghost Rider with his missing memories. They battle and Zarathos destroys Ghost Rider. The rest of the Midnight Sons show up for the final battle.

While he is there Varnae, the Lord of Vampires attacks Jay and Callie, two young lovers. He then attacks John Blaze. They battle and John eventually drives him away. Caretaker shows up after the battle to say that Seer transported Callie to safety and to tell John that he must continue to endure.

Blaze invades a top-secret military base where the bodies of those killed from the Quentin Carnival are being held. John downloads the data they have gleaned from the bodies and then destroys their data and the tissue samples, DNA and blood that they were holding. He is confronted by the ghosts of those who were killed. The ghosts say they followed their bodies to this base. They tell John that Steel Wind and some of the demons are alive and being experimented on. John kills the demons and rescues Steel Wind against her will. The ghosts stay behind to cover John’s escape.

John Blaze comes upon Kody fighting a creature just like him in the woods. He stops Kody from killing it and finds out that it was Kody’s brother. His family has been tracking him and he disappears so that they won’t kill any of his friends. Clara gets a vision that he is in danger in New York and she and John go after him. The rest of the group starts traveling again but Quinn stays behind trying to help Steel Wind. While Clara and John are in New York looking for Kody Clara kisses John. Kody sees this and attacks John because he loves Clara. John manages to convince Kody that there is nothing between he and Clara just before Kody’s family attacks him again. Kody’s father threatens to kill John and Clara but John and Kody fight together to defeat them. When Kody promises not to reveal their family secrets, they agree to let him live but say that he is now an outcast and no longer a part of their family.

Uncontrollable mystical energies burst forth from Miranda Woods when her grief over her missing son Timmy overwhelms her. John manages to calm her down but doesn’t know what to do about Timmy. Clara tells him that she may sense him in New York but she’s not sure. She sends him to Child Inc. as the place to start. When John tries talking to them, he is getting nowhere when Cardiac interrupts by attacking the organization claiming that they are not using the funds given to them to help children. John tries to stop him but gets shot in the face and then kicked out of the building for trespassing after Cardiac leaves. John goes to Dan Badilino (Vengeance) for help. He reluctantly agrees and when he and John begin their stakeout there is an explosion, so Dan transforms to Vengeance and they both ride to the roof. They find Cardiac there and the three of them go down to the sub-basement where they are attacked by robots. They discover that Child Inc. has been selling children and John finds Timmy being held there. Cardiac completely destroys the building and John is able to reunite Timmy with his mother. Includes Spider-Man Masterprints Trading Cards.

John Blaze is overcome with grief over the death of Roxanne. With Roxanne gone he needs to find his missing children so he goes to Clara to see if her gift can help him. Instead of locating his children she discovers that Centurius is alive. John goes after him but first he stops to tell Steel Wind that she must be gone when he returns and that her master Centurius is still alive. Centurius’ demon captures John but before he can kill him Steel Wind arrives and saves him. Together John and Steel Wind defeat Centurius. John convinces Steel Wind that she can help regain her humanity by forgiving Centurius and not killing him. She agrees and leaves. John then turns and kills Centurius. At the end John vows to rebuild the Carnival so that Craig and Emma will have a life to return to when he finds them.
