IDW Publishing presents a title that really says it all… Godzilla in Hell. Godzilla – The King of the Monsters is dragged down into Hell and forced to battle one unholy monstrosity after another. Godzilla meets his greatest adversary of all time – the impossible tortures of Hell! Each issue of this special miniseries will see Godzilla enter a new level of the underworld to do battle with the impossible. As Godzilla falls through a mysterious hole, battles hell-bent supernatural creatures then… falls through another hole to another level… deeper into the very bowels of Hell.
Each and every issue tells the story of Godzilla’s battle with the legions of hell, by different writers and artists. Featuring different, creative story telling styles throughout the series by writers; James Stokoe, Bob Eggleton, Ulises Farinas & Erick Frietas, Brandon Seifert, & Dave Wachter – along with artists; James Stokoe, Bob Eggleton, Buster Moody w/ Ludwig Laguna Olimba, Ibrahim Moustafa w/ Marissa Louise, & Dave Wachter. With whole pages throughout the series dedicated to hellish scenery and epic monster battles… Godzilla – The King of the Monsters has never looked this good!
Story/Spoilers
After falling down from the mouth of Hell, Godzilla slams into the vestibule and awakens, being greeted by an enormous rock tower rising from the ground with the famous line “ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE.” Godzilla destroys the tower and moves on, passing through two cities with alien architecture before coming across a nuclear reactor. Peering inside, he is ambushed by a grotesque demon resembling a pile of organs crawling out from the smokestacks. Godzilla dispatches the demon and moves on. On the horizon an enormous cloud appears, made up of perhaps millions of souls, if not more, which are blown around by a tremendous storm. Godzilla walks through the cloud with difficulty but is confronted, in the “eye” of the storm, by what appears to be another Godzilla. However, it’s only a disguise for another demon, this time larger, who puts up a better fight. In the end the demon attempts to devour Godzilla, which proves to be a mistake as a nuclear pulse destroys the demon from the inside out. However, the blast also weakens the ledge of Godzilla’s current level, causing him to plunge off the ledge and fall deeper into Hell.
