Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, In the laboratory of Dr. Eli Talbert, his assistant Ridley informs him that the interdimensional portal they had been working on is finally completed. Just then, Talbert’s employer Ms. Yamada enters the laboratory and tells Talbert to turn on the portal. Talbert warns Ms. Yamada that the portal is a completely untested technology that requires further testing, but she tells him that his only job was to build the portal, and that job is now completed. Talbert activates the portal, and Ms. Yamada and her bodyguards go through, with Talbert close behind. On the other side of the portal, they find themselves in the ruins of a city. As they wander through the ruins, the bodyguards notice something fly past them and open fire at it. One bodyguard walks towards it, only for the creature to reveal itself as a tiny Rodan, who kills the bodyguard with its uranium heat beam. The group suddenly hears a voice ordering them to return to a shelter as Kiryu arrives and attacks the Rodan. As Kiryu blasts the Rodan with a laser beam, several more Rodans descend and swarm the machine. The humans start to run away, but one Rodan catches up with them. Before the Rodan can carry off one of the bodyguards, it is blasted by a soldier wielding a laser gun. The soldier and the rest of his men load Talbert, Yamada and the bodyguards onto a truck and drive away. The soldier chastises Talbert and Ms. Yamada for wandering in the area most populated by giant monsters. Talbert asks what happened to the city, only for the soldier to incredulously ask if he is kidding. Ms. Yamada explains that they are “visitors” to the city, and that their transport broke down. The soldier then explains that the giant monsters began appearing about ten years ago and terrorized the Earth, only for a much more powerful monster to appear and end their reign of terror. He orders the shades on the truck to be lowered and shows them the monster in question: Godzilla. The soldier says that Godzilla keeps the other monsters in check and prevents them from growing to full size, and that he and his men do whatever it takes to keep Godzilla happy. Talbert tells them to turn the truck around, and one of Ms. Yamada’s men holds the soldier at gunpoint. The truck drops them off, near a battle between two Rodans and two Mothra larvae. As they run back to the portal, they are pursued by a huge three-headed dragon, which a bodyguard says is called King Ghidorah by the soldiers. Talbert, Ms. Yamada and her remaining bodyguards go through the portal, but before it can close King Ghidorah travels through it as well.
Next in issue #2, Two weeks after King Ghidorah emerged from Dr. Talbert’s lab in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the eastern United States has been completely devastated, with the cities of Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. having already fallen and all efforts by the U.S. military, NATO, and the United Nations having failed. A general is interviewed on a news program, where he expresses his belief that there is no way to stop King Ghidorah and that the end times have come. Dr. Talbert is viewing the program from a prison cell and turns it off once the general begins to rant about how humanity is doomed. A guard enters Talbert’s cell and escorts him to an office, where Ms. Yamada is talking to another general. The general informs the two of them that the government has developed a desperate plan to stop King Ghidorah. The interdimensional portal has been rebuilt on a much larger scale, and Talbert and Ms. Yamada are to be sent back into the alternate dimension to find something to stop King Ghidorah. The two are airlifted to the new portal, where Dr. Talbert encounters his former assistant, Ridley, who has been tasked with rebuilding the portal. Talbert tells Ridley to close the portal if anything worse than King Ghidorah comes through, to which she readily agrees. Talbert and Yamada are then assigned to a team of soldiers, led by a soldier named Weinstein. The portal is activated, and the team goes through. On the other side, they see Godzilla roaming through the city. Talbert runs into the street, right in front of an armored vehicle. Drayer, the soldier Talbert and Ms. Yamada had met in this dimension before, exits and discusses the situation. Talbert asks to borrow some of their technology to stop King Ghidorah, but Drayer says their technology was useless against King Ghidorah, and only Godzilla could stop him. Talbert and Yamada enter an armored vehicle and activate the siren, causing Godzilla to give chase. After dodging Godzilla’s atomic breath, the vehicle passes through the portal. A few seconds later, Godzilla comes through the portal as well. Ridley asks what they will do now, and Ms. Yamada answers that they will make Godzilla fight King Ghidorah. Talbert then remarks that he has a bad feeling about this plan.
Next in issue #3, Godzilla and King Ghidorah are battling in Washington D.C. While their conflict rages, Dr. Talbert, Ridley, Yamada and Weinstein are observing from a laboratory. As Yamada and Weinstein discuss the ethics behind the portal Yamada’s company constructed, Ridley informs Talbert of a new plan to combat the monsters. Back in D.C., Godzilla gains the upper hand against King Ghidorah and seemingly defeats the beast with a blast of his atomic breath. As Godzilla walks away, King Ghidorah rises back to his feet and kicks Godzilla in the back. King Ghidorah then takes flight and grabs Godzilla with his feet, flying out over the open ocean. Seeing an opportunity, Weinstein contacts an aircraft carrier and recommends a nuclear strike against the monsters while they are over the open ocean. Talbert expresses his doubt that the plan will work and tells Ridley to prepare to activate her backup plan. The president approves the strike and two fighter jets armed with nuclear missiles are launched from the carrier. The jets approach Godzilla and King Ghidorah and unleash their payload of missiles, causing both monsters to vanish in a nuclear explosion. As the smoke clears, the water stirs and Godzilla surfaces once again, completely unharmed, while King Ghidorah is nowhere to be seen. As Godzilla wades back to shore, a helicopter is deployed to lure him away. Godzilla fires his atomic breath at the chopper and misses, then simply destroys it with a swipe of his hand. As Talbert and Weinstein panic to decide what measures to take next, Ridley dons a suit with motion controllers attached to it and informs them about her backup plan. Ridely states that she recovered metal from the robot Godzilla found in the other dimension and replicated it to build and army of “MechaGodzillas,” as she dubs them. Weinstein protests the operation, but Talbert states there is no other option and tells Ridley to unleash the robots. As the MechaGodzillas fly out of a hangar, Talbert and Yamada watch on a computer screen and both state they hope this works.
Next in issue #4, As the army of MechaGodzillas flies into battle against Godzilla, Dr. Talbert asks Ridley why she didn’t just build one giant MechaGodzilla instead of several smaller ones, stating that Godzilla will just swat the robots away like flies. Ridley states that there is a theoretical backup plan should the MechaGodzillas fail: King Ghidorah’s carcass could be salvaged and cybernetically modified to make him into a weapon they could control. Weinstein asks Ridley how long the plan would take, with Ridley stating it’s highly theoretical. Believing it is the best option left, Weinstein tells Ridley to go through with the plan and begins recruiting the military’s help. While Godzilla battles the MechaGodzillas out at sea, Ridley and a team of diver’s sneak past him in a boat and dive to the sea floor, where King Ghidorah’s body lies. Ridley states that although the beast’s central head is gone, its wings are shredded and there is a gaping wound in its chest, it is intact enough to be salvageable. The divers place a giant balloon underneath the carcass and pump it with air, allowing it to float to the surface. Helicopters arrive and attach lines to King Ghidorah’s body, then airlift it away while Godzilla is still distracted by the MechaGodzillas. Back at the laboratory, Ms. Yamada and Dr. Talbert await Ridley’s return and discuss further options should this plan fail. Talbert morosely states that if this plan doesn’t work, they will all die. Talbert receives word from Ridley that King Ghidorah’s carcass has arrived at the facility and goes to look at it. Using cranes, scientists fit King Ghidorah’s body with robotic parts and convert it into Mecha-King Ghidorah. As Talbert and Ridley stare at the completed cyborg, Talbert tells Ridley to check the polarity, to which she replies she already did. Ridley activates Mecha-King Ghidorah, causing the eyes on its mechanical head to light up. Just then, they hear Godzilla’s roar as the monster arrives and tears open the walls of the facility. As the monsters prepare to battle, Talbert tells Ridley to go somewhere safe, but she tells him that she will be fine and that he needs to go check on the interdimensional portal. Talbert kisses Ridley on the cheek and wishes her luck, then runs to the portal, which is powering up on its own and being opened from the other side. When Talbert arrives, Ms. Yamada sees a simple message on a computer screen transmitted from the other Earth, which simply reads “We’re so sorry.” The portal opens, and through it emerge Rodan, an adult Mothra and two larvae, Biollante, Anguirus, King Caesar and Zilla. Talbert and Yamada then realize the people of the other Earth have doomed them.
Finally in issue #5, The story so far… Scientist have opened a portal to another dimension… one ruled by monsters! After Godzilla made it to this world, humanity has struggled to contain him. Now the alternate dimension has sent all of their monsters to follow him. The monstrous Kaiju of the alternative Earth now pour through the portal to their parallel counterpart. The scientists and military finally begin to understand the impact of their actions. Especially when they realize that without Godzilla’s help to keep the monsters in check on the alternative Earth, those monsters then grew more powerful and dangerous. That apocalyptic world was then left with only one choice – to send their monsters through the portal to the parallel Earth! Now the scientist and the military of this world must face the consequences of their experiments and the impending doom it has brought to their world.
