Variant Cover #1B by: Paul Azaceta

An undermanned marine outpost continues to be ready to face the Taliban. Between the occasional bombing, sweeping of opiate farms, and not killing each other a new threat looms on the horizon. When cultures clash, and enemies seek each other out there is bound to be mistrust and animosity. The undead horde that is descending upon them cares little for the politics of mortal man, just their blood.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, Combat Outpost Alamo’s idealistic new C.O. LT. Vasquez hopes to replicate the so-called “surge” in Iran by reaching out to the local population instead of killing them. The new C.O.’s plan seems like suicide to the Marines under his command. Vasquez has been there less than a day, and already two men are dead, and three more injured. No one is more disturbed than Corporal Reddick, the sniper who’s been keeping the Marines alive so far. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep the rest of his men alive – even if that means taking out the LT.

Caught in the middle of this are the locals. The Taliban make their boys soldiers and their women prisoners. The corrupt Afghan Police drug and rape them both. Even the Village Doctor is forced to become a bomb maker by the Taliban. But even hell can get worse, the Taliban have always kept coming, but not ones who’ve already been killed. The dead are coming back to life in The Graveyard of Empires. Can the Marines and Taliban put aside their differences to survive an undead assault?

Featuring 2nd Printing Variant Cover #1B by Paul Azaceta. Awesome!!

Next in issue #2, Alamo’s new, C.O. LT. Vasquez, has offered shelter to the civilians from the undead onslaught. As a result, the Marines and Taliban have struck an uneasy truce to offer civilians shelter from the living dead. This doesn’t sit well with the distrustful Corporal Reddick, the sniper forced by the Lt. to take out his fellow Marines-turned-zombies. Teaming up with the Taliban that killed them in the first place is the last straw. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep the rest of his men alive. Under these circumstances… how long can either side – let alone their unlikely alliance – survive?

Next in issue #3, The Marines have just concluded a temporary truce with the local Taliban to fight the zombie uprising. With their outpost destroyed, the Marines and Taliban have gone their separate ways. The remaining Taliban seek refuge in their underground cave complex, while the surviving Marines hope for rescue at the compound of a private military contractor. Neither side finds the safety it’s looking for…

Finally in issue #4, The shocking cause of the zombie outbreak in Afghanistan is finally revealed in the compound. The only way out for our uneasy alliance of Marines and Taliban is to turn the zombies against their creators. Facing zombies with strange contraptions on their heads, men in black armor with riot shields, and corrupt government officials, the Marines fight on in this struggle for survival.
