Description

Grimm Fairy Tales: Volume 10                                                        Trade Paperback
Editor: Ralph Tedesco
Cover by: Romano Molenaar

Fairy tales and fables have been passed down from generation to generation throughout the world for hundreds of years. But there has never been an adaptation quite like this!

The city of Tallus is under siege by Orcus and his evil army while Sela and her companions, Bolder and Blake, find themselves trapped inside. Outnumbered and overpowered by Orcus’ minions, it seems only a matter of time until the city falls. But Tallus holds a great secret and before the final battle is decided, two age old powers of Myst will return… An ancient evil will rise and nature’s most powerful force will stand against it in a conflict that may well decide the fate of Myst itself.

Grimm Fairy Tales: Volume 10 contains:

Grimm Fairy Tales (2010 – 2011) Issues #57-62
Writers: James Patrick & Joe Brusha
Artists: Jordan Gunderson & James Toledo, Shamus Beyale, Carlos Granda & Randy Valentine
Colorists: Studio Cirque & Jeff Balke
Letterer: Bernie Lee

In part #1, Sela, Blake (Realm Knight of Wonderland) and Bolder (a dwarf) travel together to Tallus to see the high priestess, each with their own reasons. On the way they battle orc scouts from an army Orcus is leading to siege Tallus. The story also reveals how Gruel, Orcus’ most trusted servant, came to pledge his loyalty to Orcus.

Next in part #2, Sela, Bolder and Blake enter Tallus and meet the High Priestess Druanna. But shortly after, Orcus and his army arrive outside the city gates. Orcus announces to the people of Tallus that he will spare their children if they deliver Sela to him and kill Bolder and Blake.

Next in part #3, The townspeople begin to turn on Sela and her companions, but Druanna and King William intercede. William proclaims they will be taken into custody until he determines how to respond to Orcus’ demands. That night he decides to accept Orcus’ terms, but before his orders can be carried out, Druanna uses all the power she can summon to rescue Sela, Blake and Bolder and take them to her garden.

Next in part #4, As the siege of Tallus begins, Blake and Bolder help the King’s army defend the city against the army of Orcus. Meanwhile, Druanna is almost completely drained of power and Sela is unable to control her power. But working together, Druanna is able to control Sela’s power which sends a torrent of water that drowns the orc army outside the city gates. With the enemy defenses depleted by his army’s attack, Orcus performs a last transformation of his friend, Gruel, who turns into a dragon and attacks the city.

Next in part #5, In the early days of Myst, shadow dragons were a terrible scourge until they ended up destroying themselves. Gruel has been transformed into a shadow dragon and makes Sela the target of his vengeance. But as Gruel takes Sela, Blake utters an incantation that allows him to fire an arrow into the dragon’s heart.

Finally in part #6, With the battle against Orcus won, Druanna directs Bolder to help Blake in his quest to reform the High Council while she will accompany Sela to Limbo to free Erik’s soul. But before they can leave, Belinda appears, attacks them and abducts Sela through a magical portal. Meanwhile, Orcus plucks one of Blake’s arrows from a dead orc and uses its special properties with a special incantation to hurl it over the gates and kill King William.
