“Together Again for the First Time!”
This 1988 mini-series revitalized Silver Age favorites Hawk and Dove. The team consisted of brothers Hank and Don Hall, filling the roles of Hawk and Dove, respectively. When last seen, Don had been killed while trying to save innocents from a collapsing building. Hank blamed himself for not protecting his brother, and to cope, he became an even more aggressive and overbearing blowhard. He still had the ability to assume the super-hero role of Hawk, but with his brother gone, he usually wound up diving into more trouble than he could handle.

Just when Hawk was about to be gunned down by a squad of thugs, a beautiful woman named Dawn showed up to save him, clad in the costume of Dove. Apparently chosen for the role by the same unseen force that appointed the original Hawk and Dove, Dawn supplies a needed element of strategy to Hank’s brawling style of crime fighting.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, “Ghosts and Demons!”, His brother, Dove, is dead. The Teen Titans have thrown him off the team. Hawk is a man living on the edge…and just about anything can give him the push that will send him tumbling over into the abyss. Hawk & Dove is the story of this man…and of the person chosen by the fates and the forces of Order to become his new partner, Dove. Hawk has drifted in his turmoil since Dove died, but now as the battle heats up between the Lords of Order and Chaos, he realizes that only Dove can save him from giving in to his bestial nature…if he can be saved at all.

Next in issue #2, “Together Again for the First Time!”, Kestrel’s got Hawk right where he wants him, thanks in no small part to Hawk’s difficulty in handling the return of Dove.

Next in issue #3, “Agents of Chaos…Out of Control”, Hawk and the new Dove are separated, and each is left to face the deadly machinations of Kestrel alone…and only one of them will be able to hold his or her own against him.

Next in issue #4, “Plan of Attack”, Just when Hawk can finally admit that he needs Dove’s help, she’s nowhere to be found. But it’s all-out war against Kestrel with or without her.

Finally in issue #5, “Blood Brothers”, The mini-series concludes with Hawk and Dove facing Kestrel for the final time…only this time, they do so as captives in his realm of Chaos. Also, Dove’s origin revealed at last.
