In issue #1, “The Black Rain of Ruin: Part One”, Seventy years ago, two atomic bombs fell on Japan. Yet the two bombs were different as night and day, and so were their missions. This issue created completely by Ted Nomura explores the development of the atomic bomb program and all its problems, then focuses on the details of the A-bomb mission that devastated Hiroshima. Follow Colonel Tibbets and the Enola Gay on a mission that will forever change the course of history…
Next in issue #2, “The Black Rain of Ruin: Part Two”, Ted Nomura also presents an illustrated text story about the second, less well-known atomic bombing, which finally convinced the Japanese government to surrender. A Japanese-American and military vet himself, Nomura presents the story from both sides, including historical background on the previous 100 years of Japanese history, and the nations fraught encounters with Western culture that led to the events of World War II.
