Continue the adventure… of the nostalgia of 1996’s “Independence Day”.
Independence Day: Resurgence is a 2016 American science fiction action disaster film written and directed by Roland Emmerich with co-writers Dean Devlin, Nicolas Wright, James A. Woods, and James Vanderbilt. A sequel to the 1996 film Independence Day, it stars an ensemble cast featuring Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Maika Monroe, Jessie Usher, Travis Tope, William Fichtner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Judd Hirsch, Brent Spiner, and Sela Ward. The film takes place twenty years after the events of the first film, during which the United Nations has collaborated to form Earth Space Defense (ESD), an international military defense and research organization. Through reverse engineering, the world has harnessed the power of alien technology and laid the groundwork to resist a second invasion.

As our world unites against invaders from beyond the stars, beneath the Atlantic Ocean, another mysterious extraterrestrial craft prompts a top-secret investigation by the US military, one which could prove the key to humanity’s survival… or its ultimate destruction. From celebrated comics writer Victor Gischler and artists Steve Scott and Alex Shibao comes this brand new chapter inspired by Roland Emmerich/Dean Devlin’s original sci-fi blockbuster, paving the way for its sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1A, On July 2nd, 1996, a massive spacecraft of extraterrestrial origin entered Earth’s orbit, deploying 36 City Destroyers to annihilate the world’s population. Over the next 48 hours, 108 cities were reduced to ashes, until a united, globally coordinated counterattack took out the alien’s mothership – halting their fourth wave of attacks and eliminating the extraterrestrial threat. Or so we thought… While humanity watched the skies in celebration, beneath the Atlantic Ocean, another catastrophic event now threatens to undermine the entire war effort. An alien vessel – unlike any seen before – has been discovered deep benrath the waves, prompting a top-secret investigation by the U.S. military. Led by Captain Joshua Adams and Dr. Jessica Morgan, this team has established contact with a ballistic missile sub and are on their way to the alien ship’s position…

Next in issue #2A, With fear and suspicion running rife aboard the sub, Adams prepares to embark the alien vessel in search of answers. But how will its extraterrestrial crew react to unwanted visitors onboard?

Next in issue #3A, Tensions arise aboard the sub as specimens are shipped back for study. Meanwhile, Adams and co. get to grips with their extraterrestrial armaments and discover the real motivation behind the alien crash…

Next in issue #4A, With new secrets arising and the threat of extinction looming over the submarine crew, Adams is left with an impossible choice that could spell redemption for his comrades… or their total demise.

Finally in issue #5A, As Adams and his team make a last-ditch attempt at preventing a global catastrope, back on the sub, chaos ensues as a renegade extraterrestrial takes control of the crew. Could this spell disaster for all? Find out in this harrowing final issue!
