Description
James Bond 007: A Silent Armageddon Comics Lot
Features James Bond cover art by legend John Burns. Awesome!!
Writer: Simon Jowett
Artist: John M. Burns
Letterer: Ellie De Ville
Editors: Dick Hansom & Jerry Prosser
Covers by: John M. Burns
Ten years ago, James Bond was an observer at a CIA raid on (what was believed to be) a safe house for stolen military computer software. In reality, the CIA had been set up. When they entered the safe house, they triggered an explosive device, killing several agents. The world had just seen the emergence of the terrorist group called Cerberus.
Years later, Cerberus is back, this time working its plans through the world’s computers. An intelligent virus called Omega has been unleashed in the world’s computers. Adaptive and seemingly unstoppable, there doesn’t seem to be a system it can’t enter – including nuclear launch computers. If the world’s most celebrated secret agent can’t find a way to stop it, Omega will soon provide Cerberus with the codes it needs to threaten the world with nuclear annihilation.
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, Death in virtual reality. Has Bond met his match with Omega, a computer that has acquired the most valuable possession of all – consciousness? Bond turns to help from a most unexpected source – a thirteen-year-old girl.
Finally in issue #2, Omega, the most powerful computer in the world, is the prize coveted by agents of CERBERUS – a prize they will kill to possess. With Omega under CERBERUS’ control, they will have access and control of a worldwide communications system. What will Bond do to prevent this silent coup, especially when Omega seems to be evolving a consciousness of its own?
Collectible Entertainment comment: James Bond 007 A Silent Armageddon (1993) is an ill-fated title that was originally to have run for four issues instead of just the two that were published and is therefore an incomplete story (cliffhanger – see 11th scan for last panel)…. Nonetheless, John Burn’s “James Bond” artwork is still awesome from cover to interior. Recommended for John Burns art enthusiasts… as well as James Bond enthusiasts. It’s good stuff.
