Beginning in June 2010, IDW Publishing began publishing Jurassic Park comics. They also acquired the rights to reprint the issues published by Topps in the 1990s. Continuing the adventures begun in the screenplay by Michael Crichton and David Koepp… from the novel by Michael Crichton.
Jurassic Park scientists manage to clone dinosaur DNA found in amber, reproducing dinosaurs in the modern day. Then they make Jurassic Park an island where tourists could view dinosaurs in their native habitat, but the dinosaurs escaped, turning a theme park into a horror show. It’s been 13 years since little Tim and Lex Murphy escaped from the island of Isla Sorna, and recent public opinion has reversed, with the world clamoring for authorities to re-open Jurassic Park! With the help of their controversial Granddad’s inheritance and their own sharp wits, a secret deal is struck to open a new park! This time they’ll get it right… right?
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1B, While Lex Murphy was appealing to the United Nations to keep the Jurassic Park Islands off limits, her younger brother, Tim, was busy trying to accomplish the exact opposite! Both survivors of the first debacle on Isla Nublar, each reacting in very different ways… Meanwhile, in the outskirts of the small Texas town of Glen Rose… a living breathing Carnotaurus is on the loose! And he’s hungry…
Next in issue #2B, Lex and Tim Murphy, the well-to-do grandchildren of dearly departed John Hammond, are all grown up and carrying on Hammond’s legacy. While Lex is quelling a public outcry to re-open Jurassic Park, Tim is secretly helping create a new batch of kinder, gentler dinosaurs that are currently hatching in a secret location… until one leaves the nest and begins tearing up a small Texas town!
Next in issue #3B, The unexplained cattle mutilations and missing farmers’ count is fast increasing while, unbeknownst to the sheriff of a small Texas town, there’s a real, live dinosaur on the loose! Now adults, Lex and Tim Murphy, grandchildren of dearly departed John Hammond are independently drawn to Glen Rose, Texas for what’s gonna be one heck of a hoedown!
Next in issue #4B, Jurassic Park survivor Tim Murphy discovers the true identity to his secret ‘business’ partner as his big sister, Lex, discovers who’s been pilfering her commercial farmland as all hell breaks loose in Glen Rose, Texas. You want dinosaurs? You’ll find ’em here!
Finally in issue #5B, It’s the grand finale as dinosaurs take to the streets rampaging and terrorizing the citizens of a small Texas town! Lex and Tim Murphy are reunited as her call for backup arrives just in the nick of time! But there’s always one wise guy that crashes the party uninvited! Cowboys and dinosaurs-what more could you ask for?!
