Description
Kerrang! #79 Magazine featuring “Conan”
Cover features an illustration of Conan by Gary Sharpe
Kerrang!… the world’s biggest selling weekly rock magazine.
Kerrang! is a UK-based magazine devoted to rock music published by Bauer Media Group. It was first published on 6 June 1981 as a one-off supplement in the Sounds newspaper. Named after the onomatopoeic word that derives from the sound made when playing a power chord on a distorted electric guitar, Kerrang! was initially devoted to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and the rise of hard rock acts. In the early 2000s it became the best-selling British music newspaper.
Now to the main item of interest:
Feature article of The Conan the Destroyer 1984 movie entitled:
Savage Progress
As the Conan the Destroyer movie starring muscleman Arnold Schwarzenegger (see stills on these pages) opens in the UK, Giovanni Dadomo traces the heroic history of Sword ‘n’ Sorcery’s most enduring character.
- Includes movie photos of the Conan the Destroyer movie and various Conan cover artwork.
- Article is 5 pages long.
Collectible Entertainment note: This is NOT a “dedicated” Conan magazine, but rather a random magazine that features an article on Conan. “Too much Conan… is never enough!!”
Conan The Barbarian (also known as Conan the Cimmerian) is a fictional sword and sorcery hero that originated in pulp fiction magazines and has since been adapted to books, comics, several films (including Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer), television programs (cartoon and live-action), video games, role-playing games and other media. The character was created by writer Robert E. Howard in 1932 via a series of fantasy stories published in Weird Tales magazine.
