Featuring two complete Kolchak stories: “Lambs to the Slaughter” & “Eve of Terror”… all presented in Full Color.

Kolchak: The Night Stalker is an American television series that aired on ABC during the 1974 – 1975 season. Kolchak: The Night Stalker was created by Jeff Rice. It featured a fictional Chicago newspaper reporter – Carl Kolchak, played by Darren McGavin – who investigated mysterious crimes with unlikely causes, particularly those that law enforcement authorities would not follow up. These often involved the supernatural or science fiction, including fantastic creatures. The series was preceded by two television movies, The Night Stalker (1972) and The Night Strangler (1973). Although the series lasted only a single season, it garnered a world-wide fan following and is considered a cult classic in horror television. Subsequent novels and comic books later followed. And it later influenced the creation of the X-Files, which is in the same vein as Kolchak: The Night Stalker.
In 2002, Moonstone began publishing Prestige Format one-shots that pick up where the television show left off in 1975. Moonstone continues the creepy horror anthology that is: “Kolchak: The Night Stalker” in various comic book related projects. Cue the “Kolchak: The Night Stalker” intro theme music and be prepared to get totally spooked out… with two complete Kolchak stories: “Lambs to the Slaughter” and “Eve of Terror”… all presented in Full Color! Awesome!!
Before the X-Files, there was Carl Kolchak, TV’s first paranormal investigator (played with style and pinache by Darren McGavin)! This volume collects the sold out stories: “Lambs to the Slaughter” and “Eve of Terror”. In “Lambs to the Slaughter”, Kolchak has to find a series of missing teenagers in the cesspool of downtown Hollywood. What does a wealthy industrialist and his genetic manipulation dreams of having a son have to do with it? And is there a mythical monster lying in wait for these kids, as well as for Kolchak? Against all spine-tingling odds, it’s up to Kolchak to find out, and survive long enough to let the truth be known! Next in “Eve of Terror” is an adapted/added-to script that was left over from the TV show, but never filmed! Government conspiracies, unexplained deaths, secret scientific experiments, and a modern day miracle, all wrapped up in one “racing against the clock” tale! “
Featuring Carl Kolchak versus a Minotaur Monster!
Writers: Joe Gentile & Mark Dawidziak
Artist: Trevor Von Eden
Colorists: Ken Wolak & Dawn Groszewski
Letterer: Terri Boyle
Editors: C.J. Henderson & Joe Gentile
Moonstone Presents, “Kolchak: Night Stalker – Lambs to the Slaughter”, This book tells an old story: wide-eyed, hopeful teens come to Hollywood in pursuit of their dreams of fame and fortune, and they’re led astray and eaten alive. What a string of seemingly typical missing persons cases are far more than they appear to be, and the tale is actually older than the usual Tinsel Town sob story. It’s ancient. Mythological, even… and Carl Kolchak is in dangerously deep… all to get the story.
Story/Spoilers
Kolchak the Night Stalker: Lambs to the Slaughter: Kolchak investigates a spree of “typical” missing persons cases in Hollywood. Tinsel Town dreams led the poor kids astray, right? It’s an old story told here, but exactly how old is sure to come to a shock to Carl. Like a run away train going downhill towards a field of scared bunny rabbits, Kolchak plows his way through (and over) the truth. How about genetic experiments covered up by unknown forces? How about Kolchak unwittingly trying to smooth talk his way into signing his own death warrant? How about Kolchak having a single iota of luck, just this one time? Please? And hey, Carl, how about getting your own cup of coffee and leaving Ron’s alone for once?
Investigating a spate of missing teenagers, Kolchak learns of a possible connection with wealthy businessman Marcus Polk. But his attempts to gain information are continually met with resistance, and he is roughed up by Polk’s heavies. Bruised and battered, Kolchak meets Theresa Termini, a hospital receptionist; using Theresa’s computer skills they gain access to Polk’s personal files, which reveal his involvement in a project concerning genetic manipulation. Kolchak realises that the abducted youths are being sacrificed to a special clone that Polk has financed. Breaking into the disused prison where the clone is being kept Kolchak discovers that the creature is a man-made Minotaur – and then finds himself in the role of Theseus…

Story/Spoilers
The story begins when a laboratory experiment into behavioral research goes wrong; a technician named Myra is exposed to high-frequency sounds, while her colleague Wayne is killed by an invisible assailant. When a spate of terrible deaths begins, Kolchak learns that each victim was a man who exploited women. Following the story Kolchak discovers that Myra unwillingly transforms into a feminist monster, which is now waging a war against male chauvinists…
