Kolchak: Tales of the Night Stalker Variant Comics Lot
Featuring the Complete Variant Cover B Collection. Awesome!!
Moonstone (2003 – 2005) Complete Series
Kolchak: The Night Stalker is an American television series that aired on ABC during the 1974 – 1975 season. Kolchak: The Night Stalker was created by Jeff Rice. It featured a fictional Chicago newspaper reporter – Carl Kolchak, played by Darren McGavin – who investigated mysterious crimes with unlikely causes, particularly those that law enforcement authorities would not follow up. These often involved the supernatural or science fiction, including fantastic creatures. The series was preceded by two television movies, The Night Stalker (1972) and The Night Strangler (1973). Although the series lasted only a single season, it garnered a world-wide fan following and is considered a cult classic in horror television. Subsequent novels and comic books later followed. And it later influenced the creation of the X-Files, which is in the same vein as Kolchak: The Night Stalker.
Now, Moonstone continues the creepy horror anthology that is: “Kolchak: The Night Stalker” in various comic book related projects. Cue the “Kolchak: The Night Stalker” intro theme music and be prepared to get totally spooked out in… Kolchak: Tales of the Night Stalker! The complete Moonstone series. From issue # 1 to issue # 7 Kolchak bumbles his way through a series of mysteries, angering as many authority figures as possible along the way. In the end there is no proof of his strange findings, but readers and Kolchak alike know that the Night Stalker has solved yet another supernatural mystery, dispatching horrors from monsters, vampires to voodoo chieftains.
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1B, “Shady Places”, its traditional Kolchak the Night Stalker action as Kolchak must once again play the Monster Hunter and engage in the supernatural with his own survival on the line.
Next in issue #2B, “Kyrie”, The second issue of the all-new ongoing series! Kolchak heads out to Seattle to investigate the connection between missing teenagers and a Satanic cult… and ends up uncovering a major political scandal that catapults him into the spotlight! But fame and respect aren’t all he brings home with him… who is the attractive mystery woman that has followed him back to Los Angeles? Now an overnight sensation, Carl must ask himself… was the Devil in Seattle? And if so, where is he now?
Next in issue #3B, “The Creatures of Habit”, Carl finds himself among “The Creatures of Habbit,” as guest-artist Ron Frenz brings Kolchak and a beautiful young Real Estate agent into an abandoned old house infested with flesh-eating little beasties. And if these things have their way, the only land that’s gonna be sold are cemetery plots! And if that wasn’t enough… something is stalking the woods of Habbit, Oregon. But is it really the Sasquatch, or does the real story lay with the man helping Kolchak track down the legendary creature?
Next in issue #4B, “Scratch”, “It was a dark and stormy night…” Yeah, we’ve heard that cliche’ before. But it’s a perfect setting for Tony Vincenzo to experience the strange world of Carl Kolchak a little bit better, as the two attempt to spend the night in a supposedly haunted house. But things go from creepy to deadly, when they become trapped inside, hunted by a killer in the mirror! The two may walk away with a much better understanding of each other… if they walk away from this one at all! Whatever you do, don’t say her name three times… This special issue is guest-pencilled by fan-favorite artist Pat Olliffe!
Next in issue #5B, “Proximity: Part 1”, Curse of the mummy? Maybe… but this is no ordinary mummy. Just what makes the dried, hollowed corpse of Imjah Ra so different from the other crusty stiffs from ancient Egypt? That’s what Kolchak would like to know… because this ancient evil is slowly draining his life force while he sleeps by feasting on his dreams! Kolchak discovers a local museum employee in the same predicament… but can the two of them together find a way to break the curse before they’re driven insane?
Next in issue #6B, “Proximity: Part 2”, Is he mummy, is he vampire, or is he… both? The spirit of Imjah Ra continues to plague Carl Kolchak and an L.A. Museum employee. Now, they must travel around the world to Egypt to find a tomb about to be forever buried, and replace some stolen artifacts in hopes of lifting a terrible curse. Failure means that the creature will drain enough of their life force to return to life, and walk the earth again! Hey, Carl… how do you stake a vampire that’s had its heart removed centuries ago?
Finally in issue #7B, “The Saggath”, The Man-Eating Shadow has returned to the streets of New Orleans, and Carl Kolchak was happy to get out of Louisiana with the meat still on his bones after his last visit. But when the Skeleton Murders begin again, and there is an apparent connection between them, the shadow, and the growing number of plant-monsters turning up… Kolchak is willing to put his job on the line to learn what it is. But a terrible fate awaits our under- appreciated reporter, and you will not believe the shocking conclusion!
