Description

Kull and the Barbarians #1                                               Magazine
Featuring Kull the Barbarian… Robert E. Howard’s epic hero.
Cover by: Michael Whelan

Joining Savage Sword of Conan on the racks, Kull and the Barbarians ran for three issues in 1975 and featured another of the legendary Robert E. Howard’s sword-and-sorcerery heroes, this one a king and leader of the Black Legions of Valusia. Adapted from Howard’s original tales, the stories are the work of some of the comics industry’s finest: Roy Thomas (Conan the Barbarian), Neal Adams (Batman), Ross Andru (Metal Men), Marie Severin (The Incredible Hulk), John Severin (Frontline Combat), Gil Kane (Green Lantern), and Howard Chaykin (American Flagg). In addition to the title character, Kull and the Barbarians also featured appearances by the beauteous Red Sonja and the puritanical Solomon Kane and adapted what is considered one of Howard’s finest short stories: “The Valley of the Worm.“
