Description
Lobo: In the Chair One-shot Comic
The Main Man gets his hair done and the results of it… ain’t pretty!
Writer: Alan Grant
Artist: Martin Emond
Colorist: Digital Chameleon
Letterer: Todd Klein
Editors: Peter Tomasi & Dan Raspler
Cover by: Martin Emond
The Lobo character was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, and first appeared in Omega Men #3 (June 1983). Lobo is an alien born on the utopian planet of Czarnia, and works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter.
Famed bounty hunter Lobo made his way into Bountytown with a cartload of dead criminals to turn with the local sheriff. While the sheriff was tabulating the rather huge reward figure, Lobo decided to head over to the local barber and grab himself a shave and a haircut. Of course, even something as ordinary as a haircut is never routine when Lobo is concerned. After terrorizing the barbers, the Main Man fell asleep in the barber chair. That’s when he was found by the Winter Brothers, possibly the only criminals in the region who weren’t stacked up in the cart out front. They tied the unconscious Lobo up with electrical cord and proceeded to have their fun, giving him outrageous haircuts before plugging him in and electrocuting him. But the Winter Brothers are in for a big surprise if they think that several thousand volts and an Elvis hairdo are enough to keep Lobo down…
Story/Spoilers
It’s a “bad hair day” of no small proportions for the Main Man when a pair of evil bastiches catch him with his guard down in “Lobo: In The Chair”, a twisted and irreverent one-shot. Lobo’s spent a couple of months in the galactic outback, scrounging on a horrible planet where he’s been bounty-hunting a tribe of bad guys. Now he’s back home, accompanied by an overflowing cartload of dead bodies, and ready to collect his loot. He’s so glad to be back that he’s only a little upset that he got everybody he was looking for except the Winter Brothers, a pair of mooks he’ll have to track down later. The trouble is, after all that hard work, the Main Man stinks. He’s dirty, sweaty and in need of a good clean-up. So it’s off to the barber shop. But who should come crawling out of the woodwork but the aforesaid Winter Brothers, who seize the opportunity to exact revenge…and do things that are too horrible to contemplate, both to Lobo… and his hair.
