Description

Lobo: Portrait of a Victim                  One-shot Comic
Writer: Alan Grant
Artist: Valdis Semeiks
Inker: John Dell
Colorist: Digital Chameleon
Letterer: Todd Klein
Editor: Dan Raspler
Painted Cover by: Glenn Fabry

The Lobo character was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, and first appeared in Omega Men #3 (June 1983). Lobo is an alien born on the utopian planet of Czarnia, and works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter.

Legions of readers get a guilty thrill out of watching Lobo work his special kind of ultraviolence against anyone who gets in his way. But what about the innocent victims – those who are merely caught in the wrong place at the wrong time? At last, DC Comics presents the other side. Told by one “John Doe,” bandaged from head to toe in the hospital, we get the victim’s story for once. To hear him tell it, he was just minding his own business and playing a friendly game of poker in his favorite bar. Then Lobo appeared and ruined his life. Before it was over, John would unwillingly eat an ash tray, and be brutalized beyond recognition. Would the Main Man really be so cruel? Find out in Lobo: Portrait of a Victim.

Story/Spoilers
Lobo goes on a rampage and an innocent bystander lands in the hospital. So what else is new?! It may be business as usual for Lobo, but not for John Doe, the Main Man’s aforementioned innocent victim and the subject of “Lobo: Portrait Of A Victim”. The hilarity begins as Doe has a typical bad day at home with the family and decides to go out with his buds for a beer. Unluckily for him, Lobo was meeting his date in the same sleazy bar. What happens next is a healthy dose of Lobo-style fraggin’ fun – ultraviolent, extra-raucous and semi-fatal for that poor sap, John Doe.
