Description

Loki                Sealed Hardcover
Writer: Rob Rod
Artist: Esad Ribic
Cover by: Esad Ribic

There are two sides to every story. You’ve heard Thor’s – now it’s time to hear Loki’s. Odin’s least favorite son rewrites Asgardian lore from his perspective in this groundbreaking collection, featuring the breathtaking painted artwork of Esad Ribic (WOLVERINE). In this story, Loki’s insatiable lust for power, his conflicted sentiments toward Sif, his antipathy toward Balder, and his deep-seated feelings of longing and resentment toward his older brother, Thor, and uncaring father, Odin, will take on new meaning. And if that’s not enough, just stare at the lush painted art by Ribic – you won’t be disappointed!

Story/Spoilers
In part #1, Loki has won. Thor is in chains and the trickster god rules Asgard. Asgardians kneel to their new ruler as his allies jockey for favor in the new regime. Hela desires the soul of Thor. But what will Loki do with his arch foe who is also his step-brother?!

Next in part #2, Loki confronts two of his prisoners, first the cruel Lady Sif and second the thoughtless and egotistical Balder about their long and painful histories together. Based on his talk with Sif, Loki decrees that Thor will be executed at dawn. Based on his talk with Balder about the many dimensions where Loki always loses, he summons Karnilla to aid him in his quest for truth and the overcoming of ones destiny.

Next in part #3, Karnilla shows Loki a myriad of worlds where Thor always wins and Loki always loses; Loki confronts a beaten Thor as he tries to reason out how to beat fate. Loki accuses the All-Father, Odin, of using and abusing him in his quest to glorify the real son over the adopted son. Loki’s mother arrives.

Finally in part #4, Loki’s mother shows up in Asgard to reclaim her son and take her rightful place as Queen, much to her son’s chagrin. Court politics and interruptions begin to take their tole on the new ruler. On the eve of the execution of Thor, Hela pressures Loki into committing to the deed, but Loki is contemplating the future and fate and has no time or answers for the maiden of Death. Loki figures out what he must do to turn the course of his destiny around, but will fate trick the trickster one more time?
