This rare leather-bound hardcover was a promotional item given to comic bookstore retailers as a retailer incentive for supporting the Lone Wolf and Cub title, by the publisher Dark Horse Comics. It contains 9 chapters of the saga, a glossary, profiles of the creators and The Ronin Report. With a limited print run of 230, this book is very uncommon and is to be considered one of the great rare graphic hardcovers in the world.

Each copy contains a special tipped in bookplate on the front free endpaper with a never-before-seen Lone Wolf & Cub black and white illustration of Lone Wolf with Cub (son) on his back and is personally autographed in Japanese by the series writer, Kazuo Koike. The special tipped in bookplate is limited and numbered out of 230.
