Mad Max is a 1979 Australian dystopian action film directed by George Miller, produced by Byron Kennedy, and starring Mel Gibson. James McCausland and George Miller wrote the screenplay from a story by George Miller and Byron Kennedy. The film became the first in a series, spawning the sequels Mad Max 2 (a.k.a. The Road Warrior, 1981), Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985), and Mad Max: Fury Road (2015).
In an apocalyptic future… where the highways of Australia are terrorized by violent gangs who have turned the highways into a battleground as they loot gasoline and savagely brutalize the innocent. Max Rockatansky is a rookie officer of an Australian highway patrol called the Main Force Patrol… a policeman who had everything… Until, a murderous motorcycle gang led by the evil Toecutter burns his partner Jim Goose to death and murders his wife and son. Soon after, a vengeful, “Mad” Max decides to take the law into his own hands as he sets out to get blood from the motorcycle gang with deadly results.
Much later, the apocalyptic story continues in the 2015 feature film, Mad Max: Fury Road. A high-ranking female Imperator named Furiosa rebels against her tyrannical ruler, in post apocalyptic Australia, as she escapes with his most prized possessions – his wives – imprisoned for his pleasure. As a deadly pursuit ensues, a drifter named Max “Mad Max” finds himself once again in murderous mayhem.
Now, Vertigo (DC Comics) proudly presents… from the mind of George Miller, the creator of the Mad Max trilogy, the prelude one-shot to the upcoming film Mad Max: Fury Road continues!
Story/Spoilers
