Married… with Children is an American sitcom that aired for 11 seasons that ran from April 5, 1987, to June 9, 1997. It featured a dysfunctional family living in a fictional Chicago suburb. The show follows the lives of Al Bundy, a once glorious high school football player turned hard-luck women’s shoe salesman; his obnoxious wife, Peggy; their attractive, promiscuous, and clueless daughter, Kelly; and their girl-crazy, wisecracking son, Bud.
As this Married…with Children NOW Comics mini-series begins, Peg is off visiting her family in Wanker County, and both children are off on dates, giving Al Bundy a chance to be alone. So, like any red-blooded American with such an opportunity, Al rents a bunch of sci-fi movies, and settles down with a six-pack to enjoy a solitary movie marathon. And of course, Al passes out just as the first movie begins. Married…With Children: 2099 takes place in Al’s science-fiction dreamland. There, he’s an unsuccessful used-hovercraft salesman, and his wife and kids are as annoying as ever. Worse, his son has been acting up in school (including making lewd remarks at principal, a Princess Leia-lookalike), and as a result, the entire family has been sentenced to life on the dark side of the moon. This title is an all-out science-fiction spoof, featuring cameo appearances from characters from Star Wars, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Aliens, Terminator, and Marvel’s “2099” titles… & Judge Dredd, E.T., Wizard of Oz’s Tin Man, Robocop, Ed 209, and more! … and vehicles from Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Batman, and more!
Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, “Recognizing Authority”, Al has fallen asleep during what could have been the most happy and tranquil evening since he said, “I Do”. But Al dreams… the mother of all Sci-Fi spoofs… Welcome to… The Bundy Zone!!
Next in issue #2, “Rebellion on Moonbase Three”, Al, Peg, and Kell are carted off to the prison colony on the moon!
Finally, in issue #3, “Demanding your Civil Rights”, Will Al and the others escape from the Moon prison colony?!
