Married… With Children is an American sitcom that aired for 11 seasons that ran from April 5, 1987, to June 9, 1997. It featured a dysfunctional family living in a fictional Chicago suburb. The show follows the lives of Al Bundy, a once glorious high school football player turned hard-luck women’s shoe salesman; his obnoxious wife, Peggy; their attractive, promiscuous, and clueless daughter, Kelly; and their girl-crazy, wisecracking son, Bud. An incredibly popular television show, the Bundy’s antics and misadventures are even funnier in comic book form. If nothing else, the Bundy’s will make you feel a lot better about your own family.
NOW Comics presents, Married… With Children {2nd Series}. Chicago’s favorite dysfunctional family is back in this second volume of Married… With Children. This second series features more of their hilarious & crude style of comedy, including stories where Peg becomes the star of a radio talk show catering to bitter women, or when the Bundys make (and lose) a fortune with a machine that tells you what kind of filling is in all those assorted chocolate candies, Al loses his shoe salesman job to Bud, Peggy and Kelly head to the Bahamas an get caught up by extraterrestrials, Al’s stinky feet used as a weapon for justice, Al joins a drinking club to escape family life, and last but not least, Kelly Bundy in her own story… about “earning” money. So as you can see it’s about as crazy as it can possibly get for the Bundy family.
Stories/Spoilers
In issue #1, “The Love Line”, Peggy gets a job… making real money! And Al Bundy could not be happier, even to the point of willingly being Peg’s sex slave. And we all know how Al feels about that… the sacrifices we make for money. But will Peggy last, does she have what it takes to do the job after never having worked before. Lucky for her the job entails giving oppressed women advise about their good for nothing husbands… something, Peggy happens to be a pro at.
Next in issue #2, “Sweet Revenge”, The Bundy’s become the envy of the entire block as they invent a gadget that can tell you what kind of filling is inside all those assorted chocolates covered candies! But end up going to court with the real inventor over copy right infringement.
Next in issue #3, “Psychodad”, It’s PSYCHODAD!!! Al Bundy snaps when Bud takes his job as a shoe salesman away from him!
Next in issue #4, “Bahama Mama!”, It’s the Bahamas for Peg and Kelly! Peg wins a trip to the Bahamas in a jingle contest and brings Kelly. Meanwhile, Bud and Al are stuck at home with the domineering mother-in-law from hell!
Next in issue #5, “Feet Feat”, Al Bundy, a superhero? You bet your socks! Al Bundy has decided to be a crusader of justice. See Al battle the ugly woman slasher with his secret weapon, the most powerful defense ever devised: his smelly feet!
Next in issue #6, “Hog Heaven!”, Al is sick of the perpetual dirt and lack of edible food in his castle. His chosen form of protest is to join a men’s club, much to the chagrin of Peg. The Sacred Brotherhood of the Mighty Warthog was created for husbands who want to swill beer and complain about their wives!
Finally in issue #7, “Attack of the Job Huntress.” Kelly lands some very un-Kellyish jobs in attempt to earn money for her college education!
