Married… With Children is an American sitcom that aired for 11 seasons that ran from April 5, 1987, to June 9, 1997. It featured a dysfunctional family living in a fictional Chicago suburb. The show follows the lives of Al Bundy, a once glorious high school football player turned hard-luck women’s shoe salesman; his obnoxious wife, Peggy; their attractive, promiscuous, and clueless daughter, Kelly; and their girl-crazy, wisecracking son, Bud.
NOW Comics presents, “Married… With Children: Lotto Fever”. From Baltic to Boardwalk is the first issue of the Lotto Fever! special series, which was intended as a 3-issue mini-series, as well as the last overall issue of Married… With Children comic books because the company went into bankruptcy.
Story/Spoilers
In “From Baltic to Boardwalk“, disgruntled shoe salesman, Al Bundy, has a very stressful day at the shoe store and afterwards finds it just as chaotic at home. Seeking refuge, Al heads out to the local liqour store to buy some alchohol. Unfortunately, his time at the liqour store was just as hectic and Al ends up purchasing a lottery ticket. Two days later, Al back at his job and discovers that he won the lottery. Al promptly proceeds to quit his job in the rudest way and then heads home to find his family waiting to ambush him for the lottery money. Al soon discovers the entire neighborhood has discovered his newfound wealth. Mobbed by the entire neighborhood, Al reasons that the only decision to make in this circumstance is to move…
Collectible Entertainment comment: Although Married… With Children: Lotto Fever is an ill-fated title that was originally to have run for three issues instead of just the one that was published and is therefore an incomplete story (cliffhanger – see 11th scan for last panel)…. Nonetheless, Married… With Children is still awesome from cover to interior. Recommended for Married… With Children enthusiasts… as well as Al Bundy enthusiasts. It’s good stuff.
