Working closely with Topps, IDW Limited has selected a wide variety of top creative talent to provide original, hand-illustrated as well as hand-painted sketch-card art for this special edition. Ranging in diverse style and background, the group assembled for this book is unrivaled in experience and talent. From series artist John McCrea to alternative gallery painter Apricot Mantle to popular trading-card artist Nar!, each participant brings a unique view and twist to the Mars Attacks universe.

There were two editions released of this hardcover. The Red Label had 250 copies printed, included one sketch card, and featured the first five issues of the IDW Mars Attacks Series. The Blue Label had only 50 copies printed, included a four-card puzzle-set, and featured the latter five issues of the series. The four-card puzzle-set is NOT included in this listing, but despite this shortcoming, this collector’s item is still the pinnacle of Mars Attacks content. Signed by both John Layman and John McCrea on a special page that also contains a numbering and a piece of black and white artwork, this set is a MUST-HAVE for any serious Mars Attacks enthusiast.
