General Zar, of the Martian army, has been wronged by the people of Earth, and he wants revenge. The invasion begins! The first stories of an all-new Mars Attack universe are here, bringing outrageous action and dark humor to the comics page. Eisner-winning writer John Layman is joined by Eisner-winning artist John McCrea to sound the alarm. Beware! The Martians are coming!
Story/Spoilers
It would take him a half-century, but general Zar would finally have his revenge. He’d see the humans suffer. Their civilizations crumble. The entire planet in ruin. But not today. After crashing their flying saucer, Zar is flung to the side, away from the wreckage. His unconscious body is stumbled upon by two farmers. Curious but scared as to what exactly Zar is supposed to be, they decided to sell him to a nearby carnival. Zar comes to awhile later finding himself tied up in a chair being interrogated by a crooked owner of a carnival. He is beaten and verbally abused. Feeling remorse for selling the creature, one of the original farmers sneaks into the tent where Zar is being kept and attempts to free him. The carnival owner catches him in the act and murders him with a knife. The carnival owner then frees Zar and lets him leave the tent, only to come out behind him yelling that Zar is the murderer. Around the same time, Zar’s alien comrades arrive after tracking his signal to the carnival. A gunfight breaks out between the locals and the aliens, with casualties being taken on both sides. Zar manages to crawl away and retreat back to his crashed saucer. He triggers an emergency beacon and vows revenge on all humans. The last panel closes with a view of Earth completely surrounded by alien ships.
