Mars Attacks is a science fiction trading card series released in 1962. The cards feature artwork by science-fiction artists Wallace Wood and Norman Saunders and tell the story of the invasion of Earth by cruel, hideous Martians, under the command of a corrupt Martian government who wishes to conceal the information from their race that Mars is doomed to explode and proposes a colonization of Earth. The cards depicted futuristic battle scenes and bizarre methods of Martian attack, torture and slaughter, as well as various Earth nations being attacked. The story ends with an expeditionary force of Earth men volunteering to counterattack Mars, in which the Earth force attacks the Martians in their manner (bayoneting and bullets) and forcing the Martian invasion force to be recalled defending their home world. The Earth attack force arms nuclear devices on Mars and departs just before Mars is destroyed in the predicted cataclysm, ensuring the peace and safety of Earth as the Martian race has been doomed to extinction.

The Martian Invasion has been renewed and the War has begun, the battle for survival of Earth and humanity hangs in the balance. More over-whelming than ever before, the Martian Invasion Force brutally attacks… with one goal in mind… total annihilation!!

In issue #1, It would take him a half-century, but Martian General Zar would finally have his revenge. He’d see the Humans suffer. Their civilization crumbles. The entire planet Earth in ruin…

Next in issue #2, After a disastrous recon mission in 1962, Martian “scout” Zar has returned to Earth a half-century later as a general with an invasion force in tow, the likes of which have never been seen by humanity…

Next in issue #3, The invasion has begun! Sound the alarm! Beware! The Martians are here! And they’ve brought giant, mutated insects with them!

Next in issue #4, It wasn’t the first time Martians had visited Earth. They’d come before, throughout the centuries… and encountered various Earthling cultures. The circumstances of each meeting were different… but inevitably… invariably…every single time…the outcome was always the same…War and Death!

Next in issue #5, The Martian mayhem continues! The first story arc comes to a close as a warrior from Earth’s past joins the fray, and the Martians bring out the really big guns.

Next in issue #6, An exciting new story arc starts here! As human ramp up their defenses, the Martians unleash a new weapon from their arsenal… the freeze ray!
